A Motion was made by Commissioner Waskow, seconded by Commissioner Avery to accept the February budget. All Ayes, motion carried.

Training certificates were presented by both Chief Fritz and Chief Cremer and will be entered into the Fire and Police personnel files.

Probationary Employees: Chief Cremer reported that Firefighter Keith Deppermann is doing well and that he was assisting with the firefighter initial testing on Saturday.

Testing Cycles: The Commission tentatively set the date of Saturday, April 19th for the written test for the Firefighter Initial. It will be held at 10:00 a.m. in a classroom at CantonHigh School.

Oral interview dates for the Firefighter Initial were set for Wednesday, April 30 and Thursday, May 1 at the high school.

Regarding the upcoming Police Initial List Testing, with its expiration date of November 28, 2008, Chief Fritz proposed the possibility of moving this testing up sooner. Chief Fritz is quite confident that he will be allowed to hire one new officer with the passage of the budget for the new fiscal year. The current eligibility list is now down to about the 6th candidate already. His suggestion is to move the PD Initial testing up and also combine the new list with the old to have the opportunity to hire a better quality candidate. The consensus of the Commission is that this would be a good plan of action.

We will have to administer the same POWER test as was done last time and order the same written test in order to combine the two lists. It was also determined to begin the testing before May 1 in order to get advertising costs in on the current budget.

On or about April 1 was chosen for the packet pickup date, with packets being due on or about May 1. The Commission will review the applicant packets on the evening of May 1. Orientation and physical ability testing will be May 3, dependant on the availability of the high school facilities.

New Business: Officers Putman and Taylor were not present to discuss their issue; however, the Commission is agreeable to the situation. Chief Cremer suggested having Attorney Peterson check into it. Chief Fritz will ask the Pension Board write a letter stating their position.

Carol will email all of the dates and times decided upon today to the Commissioners and Chiefs.

With no further business before the Commission, the meeting was adjourned at 4:18 p.m.
