Canora Minor Hockey AGM

1)Meeting called to order @ 7:35 pm.

2)AGM Meeting Minutes from Sept 3, 2014 circulated. Motion made by Maggie Lukey to adopt the minutes as read & Bryan Heshka seconded motion.

3)Welcome by Kelly Beblow (President) & Introduction of Executive

  1. Vice- President – Dean Wilgosh (absent)
  2. Treasurer – Michelle Hembling
  3. Secretary – Kelly Strelioff
  4. Referee in Scheduling – Jennifer Sleeva
  5. Equipment Manager – Iona Hleboff
  6. Referee in Chief - Kent Gress
  7. Registrar – Jeannette Ebert

4)Adoption of Agenda made by Lisa Dyck & seconded by Jennifer Sleeva.

5)September Trip of the Month Draw (Carribean Cruise) – winners were Craig & Kim Sandager of Preeceville.

6)Treasurer’s Report from 2014-2015 Season – copies circulated. Motion to adopt made by Jennifer Lindgren. Tracy Gulka seconded. Michelle Hembling spoke as of last week balance of $17, 085.16

7)Trip of Month Report given by Tracey Heshka. All tickets for 2014-2015 sold @ $36,000. B/t pay-outs throughout year, lost cheques, advertising, caution fees returned ($9300), pay-out to Minor Hockey ($10, 000), etc. profit at this time at $10, 145, (while still have to pay out Aug-Oct winners).

8)Available Executive Positions

  1. Registrar – Michelle Hembling nominated Cindy Sznerch - seconded by Reagan Foster. Cindy accepted nomination.
  2. Web Design – Michelle Hembling nominated Jeannette Ebert, with Nicole Korpusik seconding. Jeannette accepted nomination.

9)Power Skating – As discussed at Exec meeting on Aug 26th – details forwarded to parents that Leona Kitchen will be teaching Ice training (10 hrs) & Curtis Bailey will be doing the land training (10 hrs) at CCS. Michelle explained there will be 2 weeks of each with breaks on Sat & Sun. Session will be voluntary for Novice players & up. $100 for Canora Minor Hockey Players & $200 for Non-Canora Minor Hockey players. New form (copy attached) circulated for parents to fill out/make payment if wishing.

10)New Business –

  1. Registration – parents aware of increase fee of $50 per all players.
  1. Registration per SHA – Kelly B. explained have to register child in year of birth. Question from floor:: “Did SHA change rules in terms of girls playing down”? Will have to review SHA rules (info n/a at present meeting).
  1. Admission at Door – brought to attention to those present that everyone will have to pay at games (whereby if it is not their game) d/t cover increase reffing costs. If parents present for their own child’s game do not have to pay. Discussion of looking at maybe having a day where admission could be free for everyone ie ? Minor Hockey Day
  1. Parent discussion: Meridee Kopelchuk brought up idea of looking into getting sponsors for increased funds, however, no volunteers at this time for someone looking, therefore tabled at present. Ryan Hauber brought up idea of splitting ice into 2 surfaces for younger teams to decrease ice costs.
  1. Tournaments – Parents made aware there is no additional funding from exec. Question asked from floor – if could look at possibly taking funds from money made at tournaments to use towards cost of away tournaments. Could look at for future meeting.
  1. Resumes – coaches to put down qualifications on paper & forward to Michelle by Sept 20th, whereby executive will r/v after that time. Coaches to write down the Division they would prefer to coach. Reminder brought forth that Criminal Record check good for every 5 years.
  1. Complaint Form – Reminder to those present that the formal complaint form will be made available on the Canora Minor Hockey Website as the executive will not know if concerns are present unless it is written down. 24 hour rule applies.
  1. Respect In Sport – per SHA. Suggestion that at least 1 parent should take the on-line course (free). Same is equivalent to Respect in School (for teachers that may have previously taken). Jeannette Ebert will look at posting link on CMH website.
  1. Reffing Clinic – Wed Oct 21st @ Canora 6-10pm. Canora Minor Hockey will reimburse those that participate. For ages 11-12 & up.
  1. Draw for Free Registration made – Cindy Sznerch won.
  1. Kelly B adjourned meeting @ 8:12 pm. Seconded by Jennifer Sleeva.
