Student Executive Council Overview

Mission of the Campus Y:

The Washington University in St. Louis Campus Y is a student-centered organization dedicated to creating ethical leaders of exemplary character by applying the principles of the Gateway Region YMCA in partnership with Washington University in St. Louis.

The Campus Y Student Executive Council:

The six-member Student Executive Council are voting members of the Campus Y branch Board of Advisors, and are responsible for implementing and sustaining the mission, vision and strategy with the Campus Y members. “Exec” is responsible for the vast majority of day-to-day decisions regarding programs and partnerships for the Campus Y.

Three overarching goals for the Student Executive Council:

The Campus Y will serve all Campus Y programs as a resource of support, education, and collaboration.

The Campus Y will connect campus to community through student-led initiatives that engage in equitable and mutually beneficial partnerships throughout the St. Louis metropolitan area.

The Campus Y will create a rich and vibrant membership experience, available to all students at Washington University in St. Louis, constructed around our core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

General responsibilities:

●Serve as a liaison to several student-led programs. This will include attending at least one info session, one site visit, and at least one liaison meeting per semester.

●Hold open hours at the Campus Y for at least 2 hours each week.

●Assist with the semester-to-semester transitioning of Campus Y programs.

●Establish and maintain high quality and productive relationships with Wash U faculty and staff to further benefit Campus Y members, our programs, and those we serve

●Contribute substantively to an environment of robust support for improvement and innovation of both the member experience and programs conducted by the Campus Y.

Marketing Director

Job Description

Narrative:

As the Marketing Director, you are responsible for keeping the Campus Y recognizable and relevant. Some general responsibilities include managing the Campus Y Facebook page, helping programs with volunteer recruitment, and creating programming calendars and program information documents. Among your main concerns is ensuring that all programs and PLs are getting the attention from the community that they need and deserve to program to the best of their abilities. Furthermore, you are the main connection between the close-knit Campus Y and everyone around us that we work with- you get to be the one to show the community all of the wonderful work that comes out of the Y! This is a great opportunity to shape our presence on and off campus through the use of eye-catching and innovative marketing.

Goals:

●Support programs and PLs through creation of promotional and advertising materials

●Maintain communication between the Y and the greater community primarily on social media platforms

●Brainstorm and implement effective methods for information delivery

Responsibilities:

●Manage the Campus Y facebook page

●Assist PLs with organizing and advertising for information sessions

●Assist PLs with volunteer recruitment

●Create semesterly programming calendars and program information documents

●Devise creative and effective advertising materials for the Campus Y including open Y events, the Annual Campaign, and Activity Fairs

●Design the yearly T-shirt
