CAMPER POLICIES
Activities -- Campers are expected to attend all activities and to be on time. No camper may stay in his/her cabin during any activity period.
Behavior -- Campers will be held accountable for both how they treat and speak to each other. Profanity is not acceptable. Disrespect or insubordination toward a staff member will not be tolerated. If the camper’s behavior cannot be corrected through the camp’s behavior modification plan, the parents will be notified and the camper sent home.
Bullying – Bullying will not be tolerated, please speak to your camper about speaking to and treating others kindly, and respecting the diversity of others.
Buddies -- Campers are encouraged to travel in pairs especially after dark.
Cabins -- Campers are not permitted to go into any cabin except their own (that includes the cabins of siblings or parents who are on staff).
Cars -- Campers are not permitted to have cars in camp. Campers are not permitted to ride in a staff member’s car except in the case of a medical emergency.
Cell Phones, Smart Devices, and Electronics -- No electronics are permitted at camp. This includes, but is not limited to: computers, music players, game devices, smart devices, cell phones or other devices that send and receive phone calls, text messages or social media updates. If found, these devices will “spend their week” in the office. Parents, please take them home with you when you drop off your child at camp.
Coed -- Rules for socialization with campers of the opposite sex:
1. No camper of the opposite sex may go into the living areas of the other.
2. Free-time: Socialize in visible common areas of camp: benches and picnic tables around the dining hall, Tuck shop, the waterfront, horse corral, and any other free-time activity areas that are in use.
3. Campers of the opposite sex are not permitted to go off alone on any trails or into any buildings.
Dress -- Modest dress is encouraged. Tee-shirts advertising alcohol or tobacco products or having messages that promote illicit or illegal activities may not be worn. For safety reasons, flip-flops are for shower use only. Sandals with heal straps and crocs are only permitted in main camp during the day. Campers should not go barefoot outside the cabin. Boys must wear shirts (except at the waterfront). (See What to Bring List.)
Drugs -- Use or possession of drugs, alcohol, or tobacco products is prohibited. In the case of the use or possession of drugs or alcohol, both parents and the proper authorities will be notified and the camper will be sent home.
Gum -- Gum is not permitted for environmental, sanitary, and safety reasons.
Hazing -- Raiding cabins, playing practical jokes, and older campers teasing younger campers will result in an early end to your camping experience.
Meals -- Campers are expected to attend all meals. Boys must wear shirts and should remove their hats when entering the dining hall. Swimsuits may not be worn under other clothing in the dining hall unless permission has been given by their counselor or division director.
Medication -- Campers needing medication must report to the Infirmary before meals. The nurse will not come looking for you.
Off limits -- The horse corral, beyond the horse corral, rifle range, archery field, swimming and canoe docks, glen, Leunk woods, Challenge Course, and the area beyond the soccer field are out of bounds unless accompanied by a staff member. Failure to live within these boundaries will result in an early end to your camping experience.
Phone -- Campers are not permitted to use the camp phone without permission from the director.
Reveille -- Campers may read, write, or lie quietly in their bunks in the morning until the bugle blows. Please do not disturb those who want to sleep. Campers are permitted to go to the bathroom before reveille but must return immediately to their cabin. The Colonist and Explorer DD will set up an early-morning shower schedule for their divisions. (Pilgrims and Settlers do not take morning showers.)
Sick call -- Medications are dispensed before meals. Minor aches and pains are taken care of after meals. The nurse is off-duty, except for emergencies, at all other times. Your counselor has a first aid kit in the cabin for minor injuries. Any camper not feeling well enough to go to an activity should go to the office at the beginning of the activity period. The staff member on duty will determine whether the nurse needs to be called.
Staff housing -- Campers are not permitted in staff living quarters at any time.
Vandalism -- Campers will be held accountable for any damage they cause to either the camp property or the personal property of others. Parents will be notified and will be responsible for the repair or replacement costs of the damaged property.
