Calling all environmental heroes in Charnwood!

Charnwood Borough Council and Serco, the Council’s waste management partner and awards sponsor, are launching the first-ever Don’t Muck Around environmental awards to recognise the efforts of local people in making Charnwood a cleaner and greener place to live, work and visit.

We’re inviting nominations from all our communities, schools, youth groups, residents and businesses so we can all share the positive impact you have had on the environment.

Maybe you and your friends brightened up your neighbourhood, maybe your school ran a successful community litter pick, perhaps your business broke its recycling record or maybe you came up with an innovation that could improve our environment.

No matter how big or small your achievement, we want to hear from you!

Successful candidates will be shortlisted in four categories and invited to a prestigious award ceremony in June which aims to promote your achievements to the wider community and inspire others.

There are four categories to enter and an overall winner will be chosen from the best shortlisted candidates. You are allowed to enter more than one category.

Deadline for entries is Monday, April 16, 2012.

The categories are:

Category / Criteria
Schools and Young People / Best environmental initiative
Community / Making a difference to local environmental quality
Innovation / best innovative or creative solution to protect or enhance the environment
Business / best commercial initiative which has benefitted the wider community
