CALLING ALL DAIRY FARM INNOVATORS
For the DAFF Dairy Innovations Award
Nominations close Wednesday October 24, 2012
The 2013 Dairy Innovators Forum invites the dairying regions of Australia to provide Australia’s most popular dairy farm innovation. The search is on to find 8 dairy farmers, each with a great idea/gadget/story to show and tell on the shores of Twin Waters resort, ahead of the welcome function for the 2013 Dairy Innovators Forum. Our 8 finalists will be asked to deliver a five minute show and tell discussing their innovation and how it has been integrated into their dairy farm business. As we are literally ‘on the beach’ – presentations are strictly all about talking and showing with no capacity for videos or powerpoints. This simply means you need to bring your innovation with you – for discussion!
The eight finalists will receive a complimentary registration to
the 2013 Dairy Innovators’ Forum together with travel assistance
Step 1: Complete an entry form over and send it both the Australian Dairy Conference Dairy Innovators’ Forum manager Esther Price on ; but please also cc it to the executive officer of your relevant Regional Development Program (Westvic Dairy, GippsDairy, Murray Dairy, DairyTas, DairySA, Subtropical Dairy, Dairy NSW or Western Dairy)
Step 2: Dairy Innovators’ Forum will work with the Regional Development Programs to identify the most ‘out there’ innovation that would be of interest to delegates at the conference.
Step 3: Finalists will be invited to attend the conference and ‘present’ their innovation (or have someone present it for them) at the welcome function at Twin Waters
Step 4: A prize will be awarded to the best presentation – judged by crowd popular choice
What we are looking for
Genuine, Aussie farmer innovation! Anything from a clever gate latch to a computer application to a piece of equipment you’ve engineered to a system you’ve developed. We want to be able to see/touch/feel/understand it – and get an insight into the way it’s made a difference to the day to day running of your dairy farm. If your innovation isn’t something that can be easily shown or transported, then you simply need to think about how you can tell the story by using a prop (even a white board and a diagram will do!) The only thing we don’t have on the beach where the show is, is computer to show powerpoints or video clips .We are reverting to ‘old style’ demonstrations! A bit of Aussie humour won’t go astray. This is not the Olympics, just a state of origin – meaning a fair bit of inter-region rivalry is anticipated! Your talk needs to be around 5 minutes plus time for questions.
