The conference is a major professional development opportunity over two and a half days with keynote speakers in plenary sessions, case studies in parallel sessions and Saturday morning masterclasses and skill sessions. Conference themes addressed by keynote speakers include:

  • Dealing with Disaster…bushfires, floods and cyclones
  • Agents of Social Change and Challenging Stories
  • Build it…reconceptualising museum and gallery spaces
  • Managing our carbon footprint and lighting solutions
  • Beyond the Walls…new media, public art and heritage interpretation
  • Changing Nature of Collections…documentation and preservation of new media art, contemporary collecting practices

Proposals for Conference presentations are invited for the Case Studies Parallel Session.

Topics for invited Case Studies:

  1. Collaborations and Partnerships…success stories and lessons learned
  2. Disaster preparation and recovery…experiences and lessons learned
  3. Working with local government post amalgamation…challenges and successes
  4. Focus on learning…the formal education audience, using new media, evaluation
  5. International Exhibition touring…challenges, successes, lessons learned
  6. New initiatives in collection management and preservation…challenges and successes
  7. Audience Rules…working with audiences, engaging new/non traditional audiences

Proposals

Proposals should address the case study topics or conference themes outlined above.

Presentations in the parallel conference sessions may take two forms and either be 15 minutes in length or consist of 20 slideseach discussed for 20 seconds.
