The Division of Nephrology maintains a wide range of clinical activities and it consists of: 1) A Nephrology Ward with 20 beds. We provide diagnosis and management in patients with the full spectrum of renal diseases (glomerulonephritis, acute and chronic renal failure, nephrotic syndrome, hypertension, renal manifestations of systemic diseases) as well as in patients with fluid, acid-base and electrolyte disorders. There are over 2200 admissions annually. During 2011 we inserted 150 temporaries central venous catheters, for hemodialysis, under ultrasound guidance. 2) A Chronic Hemodialysis Unit with 12 beds. We perform about 6350 hemodialysis sessions /year. We use all novel techniques (on line hemodiafiltration etc). 3) A Chronic Peritoneal Dialysis Unit with 4 beds and 16 patients on CAPD and APD.4) Outpatients clinics (general renal, CAPD and transplant clinic). We have around 1500 visits annually.

We offer consultation for the inpatients of the different departments (Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Respiratory, Haematology, Surgery, Urology)
