2015Ocean City Jazz Festival (OCJF)

Commemorative Poster Artist

The Ocean City Beach Citizens Councilis a not for profit organization which promotes, educates, and publicizes the importance of our local community along with promoting tourism and recreation within Topsail Island. The Council is presenting the 6th Annual Ocean City Jazz Festivalwhich will occur on July 3 and 4, 2015. We invite all North Carolina artists to submit your rendition for consideration to be named the 2015 Commemorative Poster.

Criteria for Submitting:

•Artist must be North Carolina residents

•Artwork must be original work that has never been presented for public viewing

•When submitting your artwork, please understand that the content may be anything that depicts the local tourism (scenes that make North Topsail Beach unique such as our beaches/waterfronts, our beautiful sunrises and sunsets,Jazz at the beach, the historic Ocean City Pier (see our website and facebook page). In choosing your rendition please take into consider the resalable qualities of your work. We have found that our buyers prefer colorful paintings. If your art includes recognizable people, you must get permission from the subjects to use their image(s).

• The painting will be donated to the Town of North Topsail Beachwhere it will be displayed at Town Hall.

Art Format

Only two-dimensional artwork is acceptable (Photography, Oils, Watercolor, Letterpress. etc.) but must be submitted in digital format via e-mail to ensure the artist retains possession of the original until the winner has been determined. When the winner has been announced, the winning artist must forfeit the original artwork to OCJF so that it may be donated to the Town of North Topsail Beach. Size must be a minimum of 16’ x 20’. Please keep in mind that additional information will be included on the final poster.

Copyright

Entries must be submitted by the original artist. You must be the sole owner of the art piece or image you submit and the submission of the art piece and the entry form is your guarantee that you are the author and copyright holder of the art.

How to Submit:

•Digital images of all artwork may be submitted via e-mail to . The image must be accompanied with a completed contest entry form. If you are submitting multiple entries, be sure to indicate clearly which form belongs with which image. Submissions are limited to two (2) entries per artist. . All entries must be received by 5:00 pm Eastern Standard time on January 31. 2014. No entries will be accepted after this time.

•Please include a biography outlining recent awards, shows in which you were involved and other information that you feel are important.

•No entry fees are charged

Selection Process

•Artwork will be judged by the OCJF Executive Committee. Entries will be judged on the basis of creativity, quality and effectiveness in conveying the unique character of North Topsail Beach or the Ocean City Jazz Festival.

•Artwork not meeting the criteria for the Commemorative Poster will not be considered.

•Voting on the 2015 Commemorative Painting will occur on February 8, 2015. Artists will be notified of the selection decision not later than February 15, 2015

The Winning Artist (Open Category) Will Receive:

•The winning artist will receive a cash award in the amount of $200.00.

•Press releases promoting the artwork and artist will follow the announcing the 2015 Commemorative Poster.

•The 2015 Poster will be promoted on the Festival’s website.

•The 2015 Poster will be promoted on the Festival’s website, brochures and tabloids leading up to the Festival which provides massive exposure for the winning artist.

•The winning artist will be invited to exhibit at the Festival and will be given a complementary 10’x10’ booth

•The Festival will enter the 2015Commemorative Poster into statewide and international contests for best Commemorative Poster. Winners will receive the recognition of being known as an “award winning artist” which can be used within the artist bios after 2015.

The artist is to sign a limited number of posters for sell at a minimum price with all proceeds going to our programs.

Ownership/Use Rights

Artists retain the copyright of their artwork. By entering the contest artists agree to have their submitted images displayed on the OCJF website as well as any other OCJF paraphernalia without any fee or other form of compensation. Images will be credited to the artist only after the winning submission has been determined.

Additonal Terms and Conditions

By participating in the contest, you agree to release and hold harmless any affiliates of the OCJF, agents, and advertising and promotional agencies from any and all damages, injuries, claims, causes of actions, or losses of any kind resulting from your participation in this contest, including infringement of intellectual property rights,. OCJF assumes no responsibility or liability for any damages, injuries, claims, causes of actions, or losses of any kind arising in whole or in part from this contest.

  • I give my permission for OCJF to reproduce my submitted artwork on promotional materials for the OCJF
  • I give permission for OCJF to sell promotional items bearing the reproduced image in order to raise funds for the event and waive any rights to claim any part of the proceeds from those sales.’
  • I certify that this entry is my original artwork and that it has not been copied or reproduced from any other source.
  • I agree to be available to provide signed posters for the event.
