Unshaken: The Resolve of Human Services

Terms like resolve, dedication, and persistence have long described professionals in Human Services. We are advocates for our profession, our communities, and our clients. We fight long battles for the rights of our own citizens and the global community. We withstand set-backs and back-slides and slide into home plate. We are patient, kind and empowering with our clients even when we are weary. In sum, we are unshaken.

Proposals are due on October 1, 2015.

Proposals topics should focus on helping attendees resolve to: continue improvingintervention strategies; become more attuned to ethical behavior; collaborate with other disciplines andhuman services organizations; develop new skills; use research and its findings in professional work; reform human services organizations and systems; better understand the social and political contexts of the profession of human services; learn more about diverse populations; establish innovative models of care; use self-care for optimal giving; create fresh educational methods and pathways to success for students; support volunteerism; and eliminate social injustice.

Individual or shared presentations (e.g., co-workers, educator-practitioner, and student-faculty), are encouraged. All proposals will be blind-reviewed by a team of reviewers. Submissions will be evaluated in October, and notifications of acceptance status will be emailed in November. Workshops are 60 minutes long. Instructions for workshop proposals are on the next page.
