1. Math Success Strategies

3. Multiple Measures – Marilyn Flores / 1. Alicia Frost gave an overview of MaSH/Scott Sakamoto gave an overview of Title III Math 80 Supplemental Instruction.
a. Enrollment in labs is optional not mandatory and is pass/no pass. Must complete a minimum of 9 hours. Need to promote value of participation, 7+ hours could receive 1 grade higher. Ruth suggested having a statement to distribute at Early Decision.
b. Distributed and gave an overview of Math 080 Success Rates by Demographics & Number of SI Hours 13/14 & 14/15 Fall & Spring Semesters. High success rates for students that attend SI. Ruth asked that “session rates” be sent.
2. Aaron Voelcker presented the data from the 2015 Student Success Scorecard. Overall, SCC’s numbers are consistent with or a bit higher than the state’s averages.
3. Marilyn Flores gave an overview of the Multiple Measures for Assessment & Placement project that SCC may wish to join. Doing so will allow us access to students’ high school GPAs and transcripts which are recognized as effective tools for predicting success in college coursework-more effective than placement tests. / ·  Alicia to send statement for Early Welcome to Ruth or Frank.

4. Student Equity – Joseph Alonzo / 1. No report. Workgroup last met on September 18, 2015.
2. Maureen Roe discussed the results of this year’s English CROSSroads program. 20 students completed four workshops and 18 took the placement test. Of those 18, 16 placed directly into English 101 based on their writing samples. The two who didn’t will be recommended for the acceleration pilot program this fall allowing them to enroll in English 101 as long as they take a 0.2 co-requisite (English N70) to give them supplemental instruction.
Maureen also presented an outline of the Community Colleges Basic Skills & Student Outcomes Transformation Program grant that SCC will apply for. The grant is due March 25. A draft will be presented at PIE and Faculty Senate.
3. Ruth Babeshoff reported that 1657 students were notified by faculty through Early Alert last year. Approximately 594 were notified in fall 2015. Suggested that faculty be reminded to use this program.
4. Joseph Alonzo reported that the deadline to apply for Student Equity Faculty Coordinator is 2/29/16.

The Student Success & Equity Committee will recommend, coordinate, and initiate strategies which enhance student success and student equity at Santiago Canyon College.

The committee will serve as a “hub” for student success initiatives such as the Student Success & Support Program (SSSP); Basic Skills; and Student Equity.
