MEETING HELD AT

BLACKLEY CRICKET CLUB

WEDNESDAY 16th April 2014

Chairman: John Cliff

Treasurer: Stephen Williams

Secretary: Julie Pearson

Apologies: Triangle, Northowram Fields, Dennis Verity, Steve Archer

Minutes: The Minutes of the previous meeting were passed as a true record (Thornton, Denholme Clough)

Matters Arising:

Scorers Course was held at Blackley and again it was well attended.

Clubmark update – Steve Williams

Most attendees involved with Clubmark at present. This year there are 7 clubs to re-accredit: – Blackley, Booth, Lightcliffe, Northowram Hedge Top, Southowram, SBCI & Warley

Re-accrediation process is still being reviewed by ECB – Steve Archer’s advice is to start as if nothing has changed. Development Plan on line has disappeared. Need to start and update existing file – all CRBs in place etc. Possible change to re-accreditation date may be moved again from end of September to end of July.

Clubs that are working towards clubmark – keep going with the file you already have – ring Steve Williams if you want to meet up to discuss.

Clubs who are registered but do not need to be re-accredited this year still need to do a self-assessment form and post it to Steve Archer and copy to Steve Williams.

Bridgeholme, Greetland, Mytholmroyd, Old Town, Queensbury, Shelf, Sowerby St Peters, Stainland, Triangle and Wibsey Park Chapel are all clubs who are not yet showing any interest at the moment.

Players’ Survey Update – Dave Normanton

Survey last year – results are on a Powerpoint Presentation – Steve Archer to attend next league meeting to discuss this. ECB strategy - Halifax League were nominated to carry out the survey and to attend the meetings which are held twice a year. ECB is funded by the Government and Sport England. We need 150 responses from HCL – we are aiming to get 300 responses – which is only 10 responses per club. Should easily achieve this or maybe better. It will be held again in June clubs need to encourage players to complete this.

Coaching Update – Dennis Verity

Unfortunately Dennis has sent his apologies.

John Cliff reported that Richard Wilkinson attended at the last meeting and he is anticipating that this October we should be able to run courses for the 2 new courses which replaced the Level 2. There will be18 people per course.

Girls Cricket – John Cliff

South Halifax Girls team is run from Copley – this is an opportunity for girls to play in an all girls team – they are part of the Heavy Woollen Junior League and they do play competitive matches. Any girls who are playing within Calderdale can join South Halifax Girls coaching on a Saturday morning at no fee – league is under 16. Contact either John Cliff or Alexander Murphy. Lightcliffe reported that they also run a ladies team and welcome any new members.

YCB CDG Forum – Stephen Williams

Attends at Headingley twice yearly. YCB raised that CCDG clubs only turn up when help is needed and then disappear again – they then contact the Cricket Development Manager. Biggest problem is we need to make sure that we have a good contact for every club – make sure that the CCDG website contact details for each club is correct. Email Julie with updates.

Social Media – YCB are saying that younger generation want to be involved with CDG – Rydale are hosting a social media night with a guest speaker to explain all about the different social media streams available.

Tony Bowry has now retired. Ian Powell has left YCB. Richard Wilkinson has been appointed Cricket Development Manager for North Yorkshire.

Mark Jobbling – Community Cricket Coach for Bradford area.

Chance to Shine – 300 primary schools this year, they pay £100 for this service. 18hrs of coaching time. Now also 50 secondary schools on the Chance to Shine scheme.

CDG Website – Andy Prosser

Since last meeting articles have been added.

It is about to come out of support so we need to ask:

Do people look at it?

Will they look if it is more up to date?

Do we want to look at developing a new site?

Lee Booth created the current website so a meeting needs to be arranged with Andy, Steve and Julie to discuss the options to either update or access a new site.

Permission was given from the floor to spend some money for this.

OSCAs – Stephen Williams

Friday 27th June – closing date for nominations. If you can think of anyone who the CCDG can nominate please let Julie know.

Misuse of Social Media – A4 poster is to be displayed in the clubhouse and all members to be made aware of it. Needs to be displayed for ground inspections.

New cricket helmet specification – details on Yorkshire website.

AOB

Duncan Hall raised the issue of junior wicket keeping helmets being too heavy – David Normanton suggested that he feed this back to the ECB and YCB.
