Cabin/Carry-On Baggage Allowance

Standard Allowance

One single piece of cabin baggage.

All carry-on must be within the size dimensions of55cm x 40cm x 24cm.

Aer Lingus Regional (flight numbers 3000 to 4000 operated by Aer Arann) size limits are48cm x 33cm x 20cm.

Your carry-on must fit inside the gauge units at the airport (including wheels and handles).

General Cabin Baggage rules
  • The above cabin baggage size and weight limits are strictly enforced at the airport.
  • Bags exceeding the above allowances must be checked-in and the relevant bag fee

will apply.

  • You must be able to lift your own carry-on baggage into the overhead locker

unaided.

  • Please stow smaller bags under the seat in front of you keeping overhead space free

for larger case-type bags.

  • Due to capacity restrictions on board, you may be asked to gate-check your carry-on

baggage if we do not have sufficient stowage space on board.

  • EU security rules regarding liquids, gels and aerosols in cabin baggage apply.
  • Flights departing the USA are subject to TSA security rules. Details of these rules can

be found by clicking here:tsa.gov.

  • Passengers in Row 1, or at an emergency exit, MUST store baggage in an overhead

bin.

Checked Baggage Allowance

Shorthaul flights (within Europe)
  • No pooling or sharing of baggage allowances is permitted, even within a party

travelling on the same booking.

  • A maximum of 3 bags per passenger can be booked on the website.
  • A maximum of 20kgs (44lbs) in total checked baggage weight per passenger.
  • Excess weight is charged per kilo per flight in excess of the allowance.
  • Discount excess weight fee available if the fee is paid up to two hours prior to

departure online. Standard excess weight fee is charged at the airport.

  • Infant baggage allowance is ONE collapsible buggy/stroller only, free of charge.
  • Sports Equipment such as golf bags or skis will be charged at the applicable rate.
  • The fees are non-refundable.
Longhaul flights (to/from USA)
  • Passengers are permitted 1 bag under 23kgs (50lbs) free of charge.
  • A maximum of 3 additional bags per passenger can be booked on the website.
  • Bag Size: One bag at 158cms/62ins, second and subsequent bags at 140cms/55ins.

The size limitation of your luggage is calculated by adding the total outside

dimensions of each bag, length + width + height.

  • The weight of any one piece of baggage must not exceed 32Kgs/70lbs.
  • Any additional bags and excess weight (23kgs - 32kgs) will be charged.
  • No pooling or sharing of baggage allowances is permitted, even within a party

travelling on the same booking.

  • Infant baggage allowance is 10kgs (22lbs) in addition to one collapsible stroller.
  • Sports Equipment such as golf bags, skis etc is carried as standard baggageand will

be counted as part of the baggage allowance.

  • The fees are non-refundable.
Special Items
  • Medical equipment (dialysis machines, wheelchairs etc.) are carried free of charge.
  • Small musical instruments may qualify as hand baggage. Medium sized instruments

may be carried in the cabin if an individual seat for the instrument is purchased.

  • If the instrument will not fit in the extra seat, it must be checked in and normal

excess baggage rates apply.

Carriage of Sports Equipment

The maximum weight allowable for carriage of sports equipment is 15kgs/33lbs.

Normalexcess baggagerates apply if the passenger carries excess to this maximum allowance.

Ski & Snow Boards

Aer Lingus will carry skis & snowboards as checked baggage:

For flights between Ireland and North America skis or snowboards are part of free allowance, normal excess baggage rates apply if the passenger carries excess to the free allowance.

For all other flights a maximum of 1 Pair of skis, boots and poles or 1 snowboard per person and a fee of €30or equivalent payable online prior to departure or a fee of €40or equivalent, payable at the airport on the day of departure applies. This fee is charged each-way on outbound and return journeys.

No free catering is provided.

Passengers can purchase hot and cold food items on board.

There is plenty of confectionery available for those with a sweet tooth including Walkers shortbread, Pringles and muffins.

Long-haul meal service

On all long haul flights Aerlingus will provide hot meals & soft drinks free of charge.

  • Hot dinner service with tea & coffee.
  • Orange juice before landing (from Chicago - continental breakfast).

Special meals(vegetarian, children meals, Gluten intolerantetc.) are provided on long haul routes to meet dietary or religious requirements. They should be requested at least 24 hours before departure.

Name Change

Name changes are permitted for €100/£80 per person, and may be changed up to 2 hours prior to commencement of the journey.

Names must be changed for all flights in the itinerary.

Carriage of Electrical Equipment

Permitted in-flight, but not during take-off, approach and landing:

  • Palm organisers
  • Portable DVD players
  • Portable audio equipment
    (e.g. Walkman, CD player, mini disk player, iPOD,and MP3 player)
  • Handheld computer games (e.g. Gameboy)
  • Video cameras, Digital cameras, GPS handheld receivers
  • Electric shavers, Electric toys (excluding remote controlled)

Use of the following is forbidden on all flights:

  • Walkie-talkies, Remote controlled toys
  • Display units with cathode ray tubes
  • Wireless PC equipment, PC printers
  • DVD, CD writers and mini-disk recorders
  • TV receivers, Telemetric equipment
  • Bluetooth devices and 'Blackberry' technology
  • Wireless LAN

The normal checked/cabin baggage rules apply. There is no requirement to advise Aer Lingus before hand that you are carrying these items. It is the passengers responsibility to ensure they are packed in order to prevent damage.
