Exam Content: The exam will cover chapters 7-15. All material covered in class, homework, and discussion sections could be on the exam. Some major topics include:

Exam Format: The exam has 110 points, and is out of 100 points. The first 60 points will be multiple choice, short answer, fill in the blank type questions. There will be five 10-point problems, conceptual and/or quantitative problems on the following topics:

  • Enzyme kinetics and inhibition (discussion sheet 5, chapters 7-8)
  • Chymotrypsin mechanism (chapter 8)
  • Hemoglobin (chapter 9)
  • Carbohydrate structure (discussion sheet 6, chapter 10)
  • Thermodynamics (discussion sheet 7, chapter 15)

Thermodynamic equations and constants will be given.
