All electronic devices must remain turned off and out of sight or they may be confiscated. Confiscated items will only be returned to the legal parent/guardian.
  2. Always be prepared. – Have with you at all times your notebook (paper, writing utensils, scripts, handouts, highlighters, whiteout, etc.) Be ready to perform on the date assigned. Please turn in written work that has been completed with pride – neatness counts!
  3. Remain with class at all times. – You may only be in the assigned areas which change depending on the class work.
  4. Help to keep the theatre clean. – Food is strictly prohibited. Drinks must be in a bottle with a top. Gum is not allowed in the classroom and theatre, and performing with gum will result in a zero grade.
  5. Please do not bring valuables with you to class, as activities will often require students to leave their personal belongings unsupervised and LSHS is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Please be sure to take all of your belongings with you at the end of class. You may not store anything in the drama room.
In addition, please do not touch anything that doesn’t belong to you without permission. Prior approval is necessary before using any LSHS property. Also, please make sure that the room is in order at the end of the period, replacing any tables/chairs, depositing trash, etc. Any items left may become the property of LSHS theatre dept.
  6. Follow the dress code as outlined in your student handbook. – Violation of the dress code will result in a discipline referral.
  7. Appropriate classroom conduct is a must in this program. – Sensitivity toward – and understanding of – other human beings are all part of this discipline. Inappropriate language, conversation, or actions will not be tolerated. Behave with maturity, dignity, and consideration. Although this is a creative environment, it is necessary to maintain order; thus, traditional classroom protocol is practiced (raising hands before speaking, staying in seat during discussions, etc.)
  8. All material must be edited for appropriateness. – Any questionable cuttings must be approved prior to presentation. Students involved in LSHS theatre activity or class shall maintain conversation and behavior pursuant of Douglas County Regulation # 6130, Section H: Profanity, inappropriate dress, or any action promoting the acceptability of alcohol, drugs, immoral conduct, or any language that might be interpreted as degrading shall be prohibited.
  9. All Criticism must be praised positively. – The studies of drama and stagecraft and the discipline of acting are easier when we work together, building up one another, as opposed to insensitively destroying fellow classmates.
  10. We will follow the school-wide discipline policy in all areas. – Violation of any one of the class rules may result in parent contact, detention, and/or administration referral. Please do not waste our valuable class time by ignoring school policies, thus causing the instructor to have to complete the never-ending mound of paperwork involved!
  11. Guest speakers, teachers, and substitutes will be treated with respect. – You are to treat any guests of the school and/or theatre as you would any administrator or teacher. You represent our class and school with your attitude and manner. Failure to do so will result in disciplinary action.
  12. Theatre Etiquette is to be followed during any performance / presentation. – Show respect and courtesy to your fellow classmates during class performances and school performances by paying attention and remaining quiet. Set a good example for others to follow.
  13. Bathroom passes are only given at the discretion of the instructor. Students are required to sign a log to register the pass usage. Only passes to the restroom are given. All other matters need to be handled between classes, before and after school. The instructor reserves the right to withdraw bathroom privileges for abuse of said privilege. This may include, but is not limited to, trying to go more than once in a class period, going every day at the same time, being gone for more than four (4) minutes, or inappropriate classroom behavior. Students are allowed a maximum of two passes per week. Please e-mail the instructor if there are extenuating medical conditions which will require a student more access to the restroom pas or if any situation occurs throughout the semester. I will not take a verbal excuse from the student.
