School Staffing Allocation Guidelines
Certified Staff
Certified staff (teachers) will be allocated to all Butler County Schools based on a student per certified staff member excluding principals, assistant principals, special education, gifted education, and all federal or special funded staff. The enrollment for the fifth month of the current school year will be used as the basis for the allocation and will then be adjusted at the beginning of the subsequent school year. Calculated positions will be adjusted to the nearest one-half. The certified staff ratio will match the requirements of KRS 157.360(4)(a) below:

Certified staff serving more than one school are included in the staffing allocation formula above but will be budgeted as a board allocation rather than as a school allocation in the site based council budgeting process, since itinerant personnel are excluded from that process.
These guidelines will not reduce the staff unless there is a decline in enrollment of 15 or more students prior to September 15th.
PE teachers will each be allocated to Butler County Middle and High at .5 teachers per school. Elementary PE teachers will be allocated based on percentage of total elementary enrollment for each school. Music and art teachers will be allocated at .5 teachers per school. If student population declines to fewer that 400 students, these positions may be reduced to as little as .33 positions.
