Butler County Infrastructure Projects
1. STATE ROUTE 4 BYPASS WIDENING
Estimated Project Cost: $50.1 million
Municipality/Township: Includes the City of Hamilton, the City of Fairfield, Fairfield Township, and all of Butler County.
Project Description: Widening 6.2 miles of the State Route 4 Bypass from two lanes to 4 and 6 lanes to bring a minimum of 4 lane highway access to a vital economic area of commercial and industrially zoned parcels including direct access to the Butler County Regional Airport. The project can be ready to move into construction by early 2010 and since the project ties into the airport and related businesses and industries that use air transport it has a strong multi-modal component.
2. BUTLER COUNTY WATER TREATMENT PLANT AND WELLFIELD
Estimated Project Cost: $75 million
Municipality/Township: Countywide
Description: Heavy water users like Amylin Pharmaceuticals, Miller Brewing, and AK Steel are located in Butler County. A water treatment plant and a well field are needed to deliver an average water demand of 15 million gallons per day and a peak daily demand of 30 MGD to serve a population of over 100,000 and to secure a potable drinking water supply for Butler County residents and businesses.
3. STATE ROUTE 63 EXTENSION
Estimated Project Cost: $138.2 million
Municipality/Township: This project benefits the City of Trenton, the City of Monroe, Liberty Township, Lemon Township, St. Clair Township, Wayne Township, the Village of Seven Mile, and all of Butler County.
Description: A four lane extension of SR 63 west from the existing S.R. 4 and S.R. 63 interchange to U.S. 127 providing direct access to a large area of commercial and industrially zoned parcels including the Miller Brewery. This project, which is in its final stages of environmental approval, is also under consideration as a future hub for intermodal rail freight transfers.
4. I-275 INTERCHANGE EXIT 39 AT GILMORE ROAD
Estimated Project Cost: $24.5 million
Municipality/Township: Cities of Fairfield in Butler County and Forest Park in Hamilton County.
Description: Remodel of existing interchange to provide greater safety and improve access to 130 acres of developable land near Cincinnati Financial Corporation, Mercy Hospital Fairfield, and Cincinnati Mills.
5. Butler County Water and Sewer
Estimated Project Cost: $19.6 million
Municipality/Township: Countywide
Description: Butler County owns, operates, and maintains a public water and sewer system serving a population of over 100,000 people and over 2,500 businesses with assets valued at over $400 million. Replacement of water and sewer lines, upgrading treatment facilities, providing water storage tanks, and meeting more stringent regulatory requirements is critical to addressing these needs and will provide an economic stimulus for local and regional suppliers, contractors, and workers.
