General Membership Meeting

The mission of the Butler Collaborative for Families is to build a unified and integrated network of services by using a multiple-agency approach to break down barriers and strengthen the system of care for the children and families of Butler County.

III.  Tom Franz (Alliance for Nonprofit Resources), Volunteer Drivers

-Volunteer driving programs are in a lot of agencies but are being cut due to cost, almost everyone drives why not help someone else by picking them up and taking them where they need to go to help improve their life?

-Due to liability and red tape most agencies cannot offer transportation or offer mileage to volunteers who transport

-If you know someone who needs a ride or you are willing to help transport please give Tom a call on his cell

-No dates set currently, no trainings will be offered again until the fall

e.  Youth Advisory / Mentoring

-Goals: Hope to have more mentor trainings, would like to develop a database, get out a recruiting message, and develop an assessment tool

-Current programs include Dunbar Program at Broad Street School, Par Program at the Butler High school, CVCY in Seneca Valley, and Women United in junior high and early high school

-Looking for volunteers to mentor

-Bill will be meeting with Brian Slemecka from Butler School, if interested in helping in the Par Program (8th-12th grade) contact Bill Halle email-

-CCR

-Echo Event, Suicide Webinar (See Flyer) presented by the University of Chicago

-“Everyone Plays a Role in Suicide Prevention: Turning Strategy into Action”

-June 22nd at Butler County Training Center

-Afterward will have conference among selves to strategize and discuss how to decrease amount of suicides in the community

-Register online, it is free

-VITA

-Did 1,633 returns over $2 million brought back to community had 52 volunteers with over 5,000 hours volunteered, 85 people new bank accounts

-Twilight Wishes program is starting again (see brochure)

VOICE
-World Elder Abuse Day

-At Evans City Senior Center from 10-1:30

-Will have self defense lessons, music, raffles

-Will offer lunch for $2.50 donation

-Childcheck/Lifesteps

-Offers free developmental screenings/autism screenings

-At last 2 checks screened 31 children

-Next check scheduled for June 27th at Clearview Mall from 12-7

-Aging and Disability Resource Center

-In partnership with Butler Library purchased aging resource collection for the library

-Sneak preview of collection will be June 27th from 11-2

-Will have10 minute massages and other fun activities

-Represents the 3 radio stations in Butler

-Free community calendar on their website, does promotions/commercials

-Butler County Bears Football

-Play at Moniteau High School and are holding a Hunger and Homeless Night on June 29th, game starts at 7:00

-Any agencies can setup a table

-Bring a nonperishable can get a dollar off game ticket

-United Way

-Wednesday the 19th is the United Ways annual meeting at 7:30, at the meeting will present the red apple awards

-Future meeting we will have someone come and explain Obama Care which takes place in January

-Lawrence County is setting up a BCF, Bill will be doing a presentation about our collaborative

-How does the BCF benefit everyone?

-Made aware of lots of other community programs

-Help reach target audience through other agencies

-Networking

-Social services 3R’s relationships, relationships, and relationships

-You get something out of every meeting

-Can help connect businesses with services that can help there clientele

-Not as much overlapping/duplicated/competiveness with services

-Email any other things that come to mind to Bill

-Julie Thuma , Early Care and Education Council

-Butler County has been chosen to be one of 4 counties for a pilot program to watch how we engage the community in early care and education. To be part of this pilot you don’t receive any funds
