Make-Up Work Procedures

All daily work assignments and projects will be posted on Google Classroom. It is your responsibility to check and see what you have missed. You have 1 class period per day missed to make up assignments before they are considered late.

If present in class most students will be able to complete their work during the assigned class period, however when a student misses a class or falls behind it is their responsibility to attend tutorials.

Late Work

1 day late= maximum grade of 70

2 days late= maximum grade of 50

Work will NOT be accepted more than 2 class periods late; this includes daily AND major grades.

Grading System

Daily work= 40%, Test/Major Projects= 60%

There will be a semester exam at the end of each semester. Semester exams count for 15% of the semester average. Criteria for exemptions will be published by NCHS at a later time.

Tutorials

Tutorials are available Monday thru Wednesday at 7:45am. Afterschool tutorials will be arranged on an as needed basis.

Notebook

Each student will be required to have 1 composition notebook in class EVERYDAY. This notebook will hold all notes, warm-ups, vocabulary and work completed by hand in class. There will be notebook checks at the end of every nine weeks for a major grade. It is the students’ responsibility to get all missed warm-ups and notes from the teacher or classmates upon being absent. The notebook will be set up and used starting the 2nd week of school (Monday September 8th and Tuesday September 9th).

Chromebook

All students are expected to have their Chromebooks in class EVERYDAY. The notebook will serve as a resource for students to view and complete work. It is imperative that the students learn how to use the Chromebook in class so that they may be successful at home competing assignments. Chromebooks should come to class fully charged and ready for work. Participation points will be deducted if Chromebook is not in class.

Textbooks, hand-outs and assignments

You will not be issued with a textbook, so preparation for tests and semester exams will need to come from your own collection of notes in your notebook and assignments saved on your Google student account. As stated above, all daily assignments can be found in Google Classroom.

Academic Honesty

Each student is responsible for completing his/her own work at all times. Cheating of any kind will NOT be tolerated. Consequences will be in line with the NCHS Academic Honesty Policy.

Classroom Desktop

Each student will be assigned a classroom desktop. It is the students’ responsibility to report any damage at the start of each class. The student will be held responsible for any intentional damage to the desktop computer, screen, keyboard, mouse, printer or any other devices used in class. Students will receive and immediate disciplinary referral for removal of keyboard keys.

Vocabulary and Current Events

Students will have bi-weekly vocabulary terms relating to the unit of study. All vocabulary will be completed in the students’ notebook. Students will have opportunities to earn extra credit or replace a missing daily grade by completing a current event. A student may only complete 1 current event per 3 week grading period. Current event forms can be found in the classroom.
