Business in Qatar: Understanding Islam
Introduction
In order to understand Islam, one must understand that the Islamic faith is very similar in its culture to that of the American culture. People in Islam strive to have good families, strive to have good careers and strive to build self-sustaining businesses that will benefit their communities in the Islamic faith. The company I am proposing to build in Qatar is a design studio in Qatar called Star Peace Design Studio, and this essay is used as an example to understand Islam, which is Topic C. According to the World Bank Group.com (2015) the following legal steps would need to be taken in order to build a business in Qatar for a clothing company. First, a note regarding the laws in Qatar. This will further help to explain how the Islamic faith works.
Qatar Laws
According to Almeezan.com (2015), Law No. (4) of 2008 Regarding Property Leasing all leasing of buildings for the purposes of business must be done through the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture.
The Legal Process
The business is called Star Peace Design Studio LLC. LLC stands for Limited Liability Company according to the World Bank Group.com (2015). According to the World Bank Group.com (2015) the first thing to do would be to register this company name with the Ministry of Economy and Commerce in Qatar. The cost of this according to the World Bank Group.com (2015) would be QAR 1,000. This can be done online and it would take less than one day.
The second thing that would need to be done for Star Peace Design Studio LLC is to deposit the minimum capital allowed to open a business in Qatar in a bank account. There would no financial charges associated with this transaction. This is all according to the World Bank Group.com (2015). This would take approximately one day.
The third thing that would need to be done is to approach the Commercial Companies Control Department to ensure that the concept of a travel business promoting travel exports from the people of Qatar to the United States is acceptable to the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of Qatar. According to the World Bank Group.com (2015) the cost for this is QAR 1,500 and then it would take about one day for it to clear with the government of Qatar.
The next thing Star Peace Design Studio LLC would need to do is to go to the Authentication Department with the Ministry of Justice in Qatar. The articles of association including the company name, head office information and contact information, objectives of the company etc. all need to be prepared in Arabic according to the World Bank Group.com (2015). The process takes about one day and the cost is QAR 24 for the first two shareholders and then QAR 9 for each shareholder added to that initial number of two.
Next, there is a one-stop counter processing procedure at the Ministry of Economy and Commerce where the business would need to be registered with the Commercial Registry, as well as the Chamber of Commerce and Industry according to the World Bank Group.com (2015). The length of time to do this is one day and happens at the same time as the other procedure mentioned previously. The cost according to the World Bank Group.com (2015) is QAR 2,200 plus QAR 500-5,000 for commercial registration.
If the business is going to be established in the capital Doha, according to the World Bank Group.com (2015) Star Peace Design Studio LLC would need to obtain a trade and signage licenses from the Municipality of Doha. Again this is one-stop shopping at the Ministry of Economy and Commerce. This process again takes one day and is done simultaneously with the previous procedure. The cost is QAR 10,200 for the trade license and QAR 50-150 for the signage license.
The next step is to register for taxes and to obtain a tax identification number, or otherwise known as a TIN according to the World Bank Group.com (2015). This takes one day, there is no charge and it is done at the Tax Authority of the Ministry of Finance in Qatar.
The final step is to make a company logo according to the World Bank Group.com (2015). Star Peace Design Studio LLC would need to come up with a company logo. This process actually takes the longest, taking two days and the cost is QAR 150.
