Burning In Our Hearts

Luke 24:25-32

Luk 24:32 And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the Scriptures?

Introduction:

 Three days had passed The Lord had been crucified buried and rose from the grave

A group of woman went to the tomb with spices for put on the Lord

  • When the got there the Lord was gone the stone was rolled away
  • The angels told them that he was not dead
  • They when back to tell the other but they believed the don’t

Luk 24:9 And returned from the sepulcher, and told all these things unto the eleven, and to all the rest.

Luk 24:11 And their words seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them not.

  • Peter John do you remember what the Lord said
  • Luck 24:7 Saying, the Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.
  • The angels said he’s alive

After all this took place the bible say

Luk 24:13 And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called E-mma-us, which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs.

It would do us all good if we experienced a walk such as the E-mma-us disciples had experienced.

  • They were sad lonely and with out hope and filled with questions of why

But we find that Jesus comes to help restore hope to two ordinary people

  • And what he shares the bread of life they burned in the hearts

Oh, that God would burn some things in our hearts as we walk daily with him in his word and in prayer.

What should our hearts burn with as we fellowship with him?

OUR HEARTS SHOULD BURN WITH DETERMINATION:

OUR HEARTS SHOULD BURN WITH DESIRE:

I.OUR HEARTS SHOULD BURN WITH DETERMINATION:

Luk 24:29 But they constrained him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. And he went in to tarry with them.

A.THEY EMBARRASSED HIM

1.THE GRABBED A HOLD OF HIM TO ENCLOSE IN THE ARMS

2.OR HERDED HIM

3.THEY SHOULD BE A BURNING IN OR HEART ANYTIME THE LORD IS NEAR TO KEEP HIM NEAR US

II.OUR HEARTS SHOULD BURN WITH DEVOTION:

Luk 24:29 But they constrained him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. And he went in to tarry with them.

  1. He deserves our devotion
  2. COME IT TO OUR HOME

b)WE WOULD LOVE FOR YOU TO STAY

  1. He deserves our dedication (John 21:15-17).

Joh 21:15 So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon,sonofJona,lovestthoumemorethanthese? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feedmylambs.

Joh 21:16 He saith to him again the second time, Simon,sonofJona,lovestthoume? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feedmysheep.

Joh 21:17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon,sonofJona,lovestthoume? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feedmysheep.

  1. Jesus wanted to find out where Peter's (and the others) devotion lied.

a)"Peter do you love me more than these fishing boats...Feed my Sheep.

b)Do yo love me more than these fishing buddies... then feed my sheep.

c)Do you love me more than these fishing nets... then feed my sheep."

  1. Friend, is there anything in our live you are more devoted to or love more than the Lord Jesus? If so, that is idolatry.

III.OUR HEARTS SHOULD BURN WITH DESIRE:

Luk 24:33 And they rose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and them that were with them,

Luk 24:34 Saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon.

Luk 24:35 And they told what things weredone in the way, and how he was known of them in breaking of bread.

  1. A desire to tell others about Christ
  2. And they rose up the same hour//

a)THIS MAKE A ROUND TRIP OF 14 MILES TO TELL THE STORY OD DELIVERANCE

b)THE LORD HAS RISEN INDEED(WE HAVE MORE THAN ONE WITTNESS)

  1. HE TOOK THE BREAD /HE BLESSED THE BREAD//BROKE THE BREAD

a)JUST AS HE HAD DONE BEFORE (FEEDING OF THE 5 THOUSAND )

b)THEY WERE GLORIFYING THE LORD

Mar 5:19 Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Gohome to thy friends,andtellthemhow great thingstheLordhathdoneforthee,andhathhad compassiononthee.

  1. What a wonderful privilege we have to tell others of the Saving Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ
  1. A desire to let out light shine before others

  1. The old saying that action speaks louder than words is very true.
  2. No one will see your faith without some action behind it.
  3. Abraham showed his faith by offering his son Isaac on the altar.

What is that burning sensation in your heart?

Is it for the Lord and the spiritual things of heaven?

Have you "set your affection on things above..." or are your thoughts more on earthly things?
