When: This is a two day class to be held on: Saturday, November 5th and Saturday, November 12th

8:00 am to 12:30 pm (Space is limited, please register early)

Description: This classroom-based course offers beginning beekeepers an introduction to honey bee biology and basic approaches to beekeeping. The course will include: an overview of honey bee castes and races, a discussion of bee biology in order to understand the challenges facing honey bees, and an overview of the basic equipment necessary for successful beekeeping. The goal is for students to learn how to keep bees for the first year. For more information, email

Beekeeping Basics - MAAREC Publication- DE, MD, NJ, PA, WV & USDA cooperating

The textbooks are to be read before the class. A confirmation letter, directions, and the textbooks will be mailed out once a registration with payment is received.

Exams: Brief quiz at the end of each session, graded in class by students.

Course Fee: $95, includes First Lessons in Beekeeping, and Beekeeping Basics, which will be mailed to students before class. Beekeeping Basics may be on a usb thumb drive.

Refunds: Full refund up to one week before class, 50% credit toward a future class if notice that a student is unable to attend is received less than one week before the start of the class.
