RULES & REGULATIONS

Reference the Standard Operation Guidelines

The fire service is a proud and serious profession, and every firefighter is expected to live up to fire service standards, whether paid or volunteer.

(A copy of the Bunn Rural Fire Department Standard Operation Guidelines are posted at each station.)

  1. In the absence of the Chief, the first arriving officer present shall assume his duties until relieved by a superior officer. When no officer is present, the driver shall assume command until relieved by an officer.
  1. Carry out instructions during an alarm or drill until all equipment is returned to the station and ready for service, or you are relieved of duty by the officer in charge.
  1. When a call is answered outside our fire district an officer shall accompany the truck whenever possible.
  1. No equipment will be removed from the fire station without prior approval of a chief officer.
  1. No firefighter shall enter a burning building without adequate Personal Protective Equipment.
  1. Drive with extreme caution, whether in fire apparatus or in your personally owned car or truck.
  1. No firefighter shall drive or operate any fire apparatus unless trained and checked off by an appropriate officer.
  1. If requested, each member must willingly consent to having a driver’s history obtained for whatever purpose.
  1. Each firefighter is expected to attend all squad training and clean up drills and departmental functions and maintain their share of the responsibility in the care and upkeep of the equipment, and the Bunn Rural Fire Department’s Standard Operation Guidelines. Fundraising will be mandatory.
  1. Any suggestions, recommendations, or grievance OF ANY TYPE shall be brought to the attention of the superior officer as promptly as possible. If not satisfied at this level, normal chain of command will be followed jointly by all parties and board members.
  1. A monthly meeting of the firefighters will be held on the first Thursday of each month. Each member is expected to attend.
  1. Any member missing three regular meetings in succession without a reasonable excuse shall be automatically suspended.
  1. Each member shall be required to attend a minimum of 36 hours per year in drills and meetings.
  1. A member will be required to meet a percentage of yearly calls that are required by the Bunn Rural Fire Department Standard Operation Guidelines.
  1. All firemen will refrain from the discussion of internal fire department matters in public places.
  1. If any mandatory testing such as drug testing is required for this department’s members, each member will willfully cooperate with such testing.
  1. Failure to comply with any of the above rules and regulations or cause a disgrace or disturbance to this fire department will result in dismissal of member.

I hereby release Bunn Fire Department from any civil or criminal liability for seeking and evaluating such information as it relates to my application and membership and it is also understood that this information will be kept confidential for use by Department Officials unless otherwise required by any agency requesting for certification purposes.

By signing below, I authorize all government agencies, state DMV’s, law enforcement agencies, military agencies, and state and federal courts to release any information described above they have about me to Bunn Fire Department at any time the Department requests such and I release such entities of any liability for so doing.
