“Awesome God” is the theme for 2013 at Lutheran Island Camp. They are having a special appeal called “I Love A Camper” intended to raise funds for camperships for children who otherwise might not be able to come to camp. Our congregation will be having a special offering on February 10th to help them raise those funds.

Lutheran Island Camp is one of the special ministries that our congregation supports. Last year nearly 100 youth were helped by camperships ranging from $20 to $200 that were raised through the “I Love A Camper” effort. Many of these youth came from families struggling financially or were youth who learned about Jesus for the first time when they were at camp. Your gifts will help camp reach out to even more in 2013.

Today we will be having a special offering to help support the work of Lutheran Island Camp. The “I Love A Camper” offering will help keep camp rates low, provide camperships, and help keep the camp provide safe and updated facilities. Checks can be made out to Lutheran Island Camp. You can also make an on-line donation at the camp’s website:

2012 was a year of great blessing to Lutheran Island Camp. Those blessings came from God through you. As we look into 2013, God is already showering us with blessings, opportunities, and challenges. Here are some of the highlights of 2012 and what we look forward to in 2013.
- We were able to use Christ Serve Ranch for the first time during 2012. It was a real blessing for our Creation-Science programs and our horseback riding programs.
- God blessed us with many wonderful gifts during 2012 including gifts of land, significant gifts from individuals, congregations, and organizations.
- The Thrivent Choice continued to be a blessing for camp with over $25,000 in receipts designated by you Thrivent members to Lutheran Island Camp.
- We have nearly completed the first phase of work on the Education and Retreat Center including a new roof, new windows, insulation, new heaters/air conditioners, new siding, renovated bathrooms and showers and more.
- A new wood burning furnace has been installed that will serve the entire chapel and recreation hall complex.
- God blessed us through the Make A World for Christ Appeal with over 40 congregations participating.
- Our new Equine College continues to provide special assistance and learning for families, congregations, and youth.
- Planning has now started for the next stage of work at camp including a new elevator and a link between the chapel and the Education and Retreat Center.
- Many new exhibits, experiments, and observation areas will be developed for the Creation-Science Environmental Learning Center at Christ Serve Ranch.
God has blessed Lutheran Island Camp through your gifts as well. Last year the camp was able to provide about $10,000 worth of camperships to campers through a special appeal called:
Who will this help?
It will help every child who comes to camp by keeping our rates as low as possible. It will help us improve our facilities to make them safer and able to meet new requirements. It will help us increase the number of people who can be at camp by increasing the number of beds we have available. It will help us expand our programs to children through Day Camp and VBS programs. And, it will help us expand our offerings to children from families who are not active in Lutheran congregations.
You can participate in this effort by joining in our special I love a camper appeal on February 10th. Congregations are asked to have a special door offering that day. Families and individuals will be encouraged to donate on-line at our website or to send their contributions directly to camp.
