Building a Strong, Successful Unit

Independent Executive National Sales Director Arlene Lenarz has had enormous success building her unit since becoming an Independent Sales Director in 1973. She followed these tried-and-true steps to build her unit into what it is today. Arlene says, “This is how it’s been done since 1963. Nothing has changed. Follow these steps and you can build a strong, successful unit.”

Education

Give your unit members a solid education program so they can earn money from the first week in their new careers. Treat every new team member that comes into your unit as your very own.

Classes! Classes! Classes!

A busy Independent Beauty Consultant is a happy, achieving unit member. Kick off a sensational booking contest the first week of every month, followed by a “most classes held” contest. A unit holding classes is also a growing unit. When Consultants are making money, they are also sharing the opportunity.

Pacesetters

Hold a pacesetter’s class the first week of every new quarter. This class is a catalyst that stimulates activity. It helps you discover who your stars are and who could use a little more one-on-one time with you.

Key People

Work with five key people at all times. The key to your success is building offspring Sales Directors. You’ll want to strive to have a Sales Director-in-qualification at all times! If you do not have five key people you are helping achieve the coveted position of Sales Director, then you’ll want to personally recruit those five strong people. If you are not developing offspring Sales Directors, most likely you are standing still, spinning your wheels or regressing!

Communication

This is a people-building business, and communication is a key to developing superstars! Take a few minutes each day to call your key people. Why not send a note of encouragement or a special challenge? What you say is not as important as the fact that she knows you were thinking about her and that you care.

Believe In Them

Praise, praise, praise! Let them know that you believe that they can do it. Encourage them to go from where they are today, all the way to the top!

Sales Director Status

Sell your career! Be very careful that the image you convey to your people is one that they would wish to aspire to.

Unit Meetings

Resell your unit members on the products, opportunity, Company, skin care classes, team building and their personal worthiness at every unit meeting. Give plenty of recognition to reward those achieving greatness and to inspire others to try.

Speed of the Leader

Always strive to be a positive example for your unit members. By holding skin care classes and building your personal team, you can set an example for your unit members to follow.

Believe In Yourself

If your unit is not where you would like it to be right now, refuse to give in. Do not let your unit’s non-performance today dictate your confidence level or your future success. Remember, you are a Sales Director. You are the strongest team builder in the unit. Never stop doing what got you to Sales Director status!
