MASONIC REGALIA
Masonic Regalia as we know it has been manufactured in the country since the end of the 17th century. There is evidence that one of the oldest, Toye Kenning and Spencer, and that are still based in London today, appear to have been making masonic regalia since this time.
In the early years, design and appearance were not regulated like they are today and the early aprons varied from very basic to quite elaborate designs with artistic licence often being used.
The newer mason may well have paid his lodge for his new Master Mason’s Apron and quite possibly his Ritual Book. His gloves may have been pre-bought but almost certainlycontact with any masonic regalia supplier would have been to a minimum.
Consequently, when the newer mason decides to progress into the “Side Orders” he will need to think about finding a masonic regalia supplier.
He may know of the shops in Great Queen Street, London already, but he would be pressed to know where others may exist, and where he could shop for the best prices, as in some degrees the cost of the regalia can be very expensive.
This Information Paper is yet another introduction and lists a handful of masonic regalia suppliers, but there are others, and it is recommended using the PC’s “Google” search engine to type in “masonic regalia”, press the search button anda list of names will appear in a few seconds.
Another tip is that some, though not all, offer a free downloadable brochure with prices, or will even dispatch one to you through the post. Either way it isbest to look in at least 2 or 3 suppliers before makingyour choice.
