Course Description
Computer Technology is a semester rotation course following an ABA day schedule. This class is divided into two sections. The first section of the class the students are practicing their keyboarding skills to improve their accuracy and speed. The second half of the class, students are developing their computer knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, Photoshop and Movie Maker. Students are taught what is technology includes and how it affects our world daily. Hopefully, students will utilize the skills they have learned in computer technology class to help them create projects and presentations for other classes throughout their middle school experience.
Course Standards

1. Create a video production related to a class activity.
2. Demonstrate effective keyboarding skills in a word processing environment.
3. Apply technology resources to create an educational project (use a spreadsheet to organize data that
represents the results from an experiment.
4. Construct and publish information in printed and electronic form: brochures, charts.
5. Select appropriate file types (documents, sounds, images, and multimedia)based on communication needs.
6. Transform digital images by using editing software to: crop, rotat, flip, add borders, adjust colors and layers.
Assessment Types
A variety of assessments methods are used in my class:

1. Project Tests / All projects are completed in class.2. Keyboarding
Quizzes / Weekly keyboarding assignments
3. Classwork/
End of Unit Questions / At the end of each software, there will be a short
quiz over the software and their functions.
4. Homework/
Exit Slips / After each project there will be exit slips with questions.
NOTE: Students are responsible to complete schoolwork from either excused or unexcused absences including suspensions, vacations, illness, etc. During the term, the student has one day to make up work for each day of absence. Please see the Student Code of Conduct for further details. *
Grading Plan
Student grades will be available to parents and students online.
· All projects and keyboarding assignments are worth 100 points each.
· Categories are weighted:
o Project Tests 60%
o Keyboarding Quizzes 20%
o Classwork/End of Unit Questions 15%
o Homework/Exit Slips 5%
· One exemption is given per 15 week period. Exemption can be used in place of completing a project if the student has been absent from class more than 50% of the class time given for the project.
Behavior Plan
· 1st offense: Verbal warning
· 2nd offense: Lunch detention will be given as well as parents will be called.
· 3rd offense: Written referral to office.
The procedure is continuous. I do not start over everyday with 1st offense, then 2nd offense etc. If student has already received a verbal warning, the next offense is lunch detention and call home. Any lunch detention is recorded in the grade level discipline book and counts towards Friday Night School punishments. Depending on the severity of the offense and the safety of the rest of the class, teacher has the right to skip 1st offense and/or 2nd offense.
