II. Globally Collaborative Environmental Peace Gaming (GCEPG)/Quantitative Policy Analysis of Global Socio-Economic-Energy-Environment Development (GSEEED) Project:
(5) There would be many conflicts on environmental issues in local, regional and global scales in the coming years. They would be more severe and fierce as getting close to the 2050, which is the target year of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (UN/MDGs), since many of its items are expected not meeting with the goals and also since the world population would increase by almost 50% to 9.5 billion. The decision-makers in those years would be the youngsters in 10s and 20s nowadays. They must then be well prepared to cope with those conflicts with rational analysis and critical thinking basing on the facts and figures.
For this, we plan to utilize the System Dynamic methodology which was initiated by Prof. Jay Forrester at Sloan School of Management of MIT, for the quantitative gaming simulation with cause-and-effect analysis for clear understanding of interdependences of various world affairs. The System Dynamics' cause-and-effect analysis based on feedback theory, along with computer simulation modeling, is the best tool to understand the inter-relatedness and inter-dependency of various complex world phenomena.
The GSEEED project is a variation of the following;
"Globally Collaborative Environmental Peace Gaming (GCEPG)"
We will create a Globally Collaborative Network of the Centers for Conflict Prevention, Management and Resolution (GCN/CCPMR) on Environmental Issues, which utilizes the globally distributed gaming/simulation system. The GCN/CCPMRs in various countries will be interconnected through broadband Internet for conducting the following two-tier system;
(a) One for training young would-be decision makers for understanding interwoven world phenomena with rational analysis and critical thinking, and then in crisis management, conflict resolution, and negotiation techniques basing on "facts and figures" and
(b) The other for helping decision makers constructing a globally distributed decision-support system for positive sum/win-win alternatives to conflict and war.

Dear TAK,
I am sorry for the slight delay in writing a response to this mail. The Head of the Centre for Electronic Governance (my Department) here at UNU-IIST is out of town for this whole month.
I decided to connect you with my Research Supervisor, Dr. Adegboyega Ojo, who is incidentally interested in our Systems Dynamics Modeling approach to problem solving. I will brief him as much as I can about our projects, but it may be necessary to look at the UNU-IIST website ( and the UNU-IIST Centre for Electronic Governance website ( to see their activities and determine the potentials for collaboration with them. For example, the UNU Open Courseware initiative ( may be an opportunity for Collaboration with GUS.
Another area of collaboration could be on an eGovernment Economics Simulation Project which may allign with GCEPG and GSEEED. I will send a concept note on this to you very soon.
