BTEC NATIONAL EXTENDED CERTIFICATE IN MUSIC

Welcome to the brand new performance course at TCS! New for 2017!This course aims to build upon your performance skills, broaden your knowledge of the Music industry and prepare you for a career in Music.

You will need:

Memory stick (will prove very useful)

Set of dividers (we will be studying a lot of units...)

Course Structure:

There are 4 units over the 2 years structured in this way:

The optional unit will be chosen to suit the class’ strength’s and can be one of the following:

THE Task:

•Research and complete a timeline clearly showing the different styles of music from 1900 to 2010.

•Include popular artists for each style.

•Mark notable pieces with a date of either composition or first performance.

•Can you explain where these genres were based?

•One interesting fact about each genre?

•Pick one of the styles and produce a short PowerPoint presentation on its origins ready to present to the class.
