DIRECTIONS: Directions from: Junction 30 on the M5 (approximately 15 minutes). Leave the M5 at Junction 30. Take the 4th exit at Sandygate roundabout onto the A376 signposted Exmouth/Sidmouth. At the next roundabout take the 3rd exit onto the A376 signposted Exmouth. At the next roundabout take the 1st exit onto the B3179 signposted to Budleigh Salterton. At Four Firs Crossroads continue forward signposted Yettington, East Budleigh. Continue along this road, through the village of Yettington until you see the Bicton Arena signposted. Turn left through the iron gates; follow the private road and the parking signs.

RULES & Society’s Information
*All rules as per 2017 BSPS Rule and Show Hand Book, except for any new or amended rules as indicated in the Schedule. BSPS rules must be adhered to at all times.
*This Show is affiliated to the British Show Pony Society and all persons entering, competing, showing or otherwise taking part whether a member or not shall be deemed to the jurisdiction of the BSPS.
*The Show is also affiliated to the British Show Horse Association and the relevant classes will be judged under their rules
*This show is a qualifier for the BSPS Summer Championship Show 2017. The 1st and 2nd prize winners in the Open Nursery, Novice and Open WHPs Open SHPs Open L/R F/R and Open Show Pony classes will qualify. The 1st 2nd and 3rd in the Cradle stakes, Open Intermediate classes and Heritage M&M will qualify. The 1st placed ponies in the Heritage Open Classes will qualify for the BSPS “WOW” Factor (Winner of Winners) at the BSPS Summer Championship Show
*This show is a qualifier for the 2017 Royal International Horse Show. The highest placed pony not already qualified from the first 3 will qualify in the following classes: Open LR, Open F/R, Open Nursery Stakes, Open 133cm 143cm and 153cm WHP, L/R of HT, Open 122cm 133cm, 143 cm & 153 cm SHP, Open Intermediate SRT small and large, Open & Pretty Polly Heritage Ridden, Intermediate SH & WH, Pretty Polly Heritage LR & Heritage 1st Ridden, Pretty Polly Mixed Height Show Pony, Pretty Polly Mixed Height SHP, Heritage LR and 1st Ridden & Heritage Open Ridden. In these classes ponies must be owned and ridden by a BSPS Member. Except for the Anglo and Part-bred Arabs who must be registered with the AHS.
*This show is a qualifier for the BSPS Challenge All summer qualifying shows that are affiliated to the B.S.P.S. are qualifiers for the “The B.S.P.S. Challenge” and schedules must state :-Open Lead Rein, First Ridden, Show Pony, SHP, WHP, Cradle Stakes, Nursery Stakes, Int SRT, SH, WH and Heritage M&M Lead Rein, First Ridden, Ridden & WHP This show is a qualifier for the B.S.P.S. Challenge. Animals must qualify for the Challenge by attending any B.S.P.S. affiliated Show and competing in the appropriate class. Ponies must not have qualified for the 2017 Horse of The Year Show in the appropriate class.
*The Blue Riband Pony of the Year competition: 1st & 2nd placed prize winners in each of the Open WHP, SHP, Open Show Pony, L/R and 1st Ridden classes and 1st & 2nd prize winners in the Open Intermediate WH, SRT & SH classes will qualify. Owners and riders must be BSPS members and the pony registered with the BSPS to compete in classes with Blue Riband qualification.
*BSPS Premier League Competition: This qualification will be awarded to the 1st 2nd, 3rd and 4th placed ponies in the following Open classes that are NOT RIHS qualifying classes. 128cm, 138cm, 148cm, Open Show Ponies, Open SHP Open WHP Nursery and Cradle Stakes Heritage Ridden and Heritage WHP.
*BSPS Black Country Saddles Rider of the Year Competition: The best rider from each of the following classes will qualify, Open Show Pony, SHP, WHP Open L/R F/R L/R of HT Cradle /Nursery Stakes and Open Intermediate classes and Heritage classes see rule 455.
*The winner of the Area Championship qualifies for THE BSPS “BEST OF THE BEST” SUPREME CHAMPIONSHIP at the BSPS Summer Championships in August 2017.
*Part Bred Class 21:-
This competition is open to stallions, mares or geldings 4 years old and over, registered within one of more of the following stud books:-
a) The part bred or anglo arab section of the Arab Horse Society with a minimum of 12.5% Arab blood.
b) The part bred section of the Welsh Pony & Cob Stud Books with a minimum of 12.5% Welsh blood.
c) The part bred section of the Dartmoor Pony Stud Book with a minimum of 12.5% Dartmoor blood.
d) The part bred section of the British Connemara Stud Book with a minimum of 25% Connemara blood.
e) The part bred section of the New Forest Pony Stud Book with a minimum of 25% New Forest blood.
*Part Bred Class 22:-
This competition is open to stallions, mares or geldings 4 years old and over, registered within one of more of the following stud books:
a) The partbred or anglo arab section of the Arab Horse Society with a minimum of 12.5% Arab blood.
b) The partbred section of the Welsh Pony & Cob Stud Books with a minimum of 12.5% Welsh blood.
1. A copy of the pony’s passport, showing its registration or overstamping with either the
AHS, WPCS, DPS, BCPS or NFPB&CS must be logged with B.S.P.S. prior to entry.
2. All ponies must be shown plaited.
3. Animals in the Part Bred classes will NOT be ridden by the judge.
4 Owners and riders must be B.S.P.S. Members, except in the case of exhibitors who have never been B.S.P.S. members before, who are allowed 7 days in which to join.
* BRITISH SHOW HORSE ASSOCIATION ROYAL INTERNATIONAL QUALIFYING CLASSES
Held under the rules of the British Show Horse Association. Horses must be registered with the Association and all owners, exhibitors and riders must be Association Members. Riders must be 15 years of age or older. Registration numbers must be quoted on entry form.
Classes 44-50 are qualifiers for the Royal International Horse Show. The first prize winner will qualify to compete at the final. If already qualified the second will qualify, if the first and second are already qualified then the third will go forward.
Horses competing at the RIHS and qualifying shows in Hunter sections of the Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britian at their Affiliated shows cannot compete in Hack, Cobs and riding Horse classes at the same show, on the same day and vice versa. This does not apply to SHB (GB) Ridden Sport Horse Classes. The three highest placed prizewinners in all OPEN affiliated classes will qualify to compete in the BSHA Classic Supreme Classes at the National Championship Show in September 2017.
The BSHA offer a Novice, Young Rider and Amateur rosette in each OPEN class and a Champion rosette for each section (except for Open Working Show Horse, Ladies Show Horse & HOYS Hunter classes). The Association will also award an Amateur Home Produced rosette in Affiliated Open Cob classes. These rosettes have been kindly sponsored by TSG, Mr L Turley and the Maxi Cob rosettes have been very kindly sponsored by Mr. & Mrs. E McCourt. The awards will go down the line; there is no limit on how many of these rosettes can be claimed in a year.
The highest placed Amateur Home Produced exhibit in all Royal International qualifying classes will need to contact Sarah Butler by e-mail or on 0114 266 6200 (a maximum of one rosette to be won at a RIHS qualifier and one rosette at a HOYS qualifier per horse. The award will then pass down the line).
*CHERIF RIDDEN REGISTERED ANGLO AND PART-BRED ARAB CHAMPIONSHIP
This Show is a qualifier for the Cherif Championship 2017. Open to registered Anglo and Part-bred Arab stallions, mares and geldings, four years old and over, any height. All Part-bred Arabs must contain the minimum 12.5% Arab blood. Novice classes or those mixed with Pure bred Arabs are not eligible for Cherif Championship qualification. The final will be held at the Cherif Championship show, Addington Manor Equestrian Centre, Addington, Bucks, in September 2017.
All details and Qualifying Cards at £25.00 (payable to Cherif Championship) from Miss Lynda Temple, Roedean House, 8 Runnymede Gardens, Trowbridge, Wiltshire BA14 OFN. Please state the name and accurate height of horse/pony. S.A.E please and contact telephone number.
All exhibitors are issued with colour coded Qualifying Cards, which state the Height Section of the Horse/Pony. Competitors must carry their qualifying cards with them in the ring to be signed by the Judge. Failure to produce the Card for signature means non-qualification. No cards are to be brought into the ring once the class has started. A photocopy of the AHS registration must be produced with the entry form.
Class 19
This class is a qualifier for the Cherif Championship 2017. To qualify: One White Card (over 148 – 153 cms) One Green Card (over 153 cms). Will be ridden by the judge. Two may qualify. The highest placed entry within the first four in the class at (a) up to and including 153 cms (15hh) and (b) over 153 cms (15hh) will qualify. No entry placed higher than fourth may qualify, even if only one height section is covered by the top four in the class (see rules)
Class 20
This class is a qualifier for the Cherif Championship 2017. Two entries will qualify. One up to 138cms (Pink Card) and one over 138-148cms (Blue Card). Both must be within the first four in the class in order to qualify.Will not be ridden by the judge at qualifying shows, but will be ridden by a lightweight adult at the Cherif Championship final. One entry will qualify. The highest placed entry within the first four in the class, who has not already qualified, will qualify (see rules)
*Neither the BSPS nor the committee, any judge, steward or any other official shall be liable for injury or damage to any person, animal, article or property. It is a condition of entry that each exhibitor or competitor shall indemnify the organisers and hold them harmless against such matters aforesaid.
*Correctly secured British standard scull/riding hats No. EN1384 PAS 015 (USA) ASTMF 1163 that meet current safety standards MUST be worn at all times when mounted.
*The committee reserves the right to alter the times of classes or the Judge if necessary.
*All objections must be submitted in writing within 30 minutes of the completion of the class to the secretary with a deposit of £30.
*Only tack permissible in the ring in BSPS classes is allowed on the showground when mounted.
*No exercising in the rings anyone doing so will be disqualified.
*No entry fees will be refunded and no substitutions will be allowed.
*All prize money to be collected on the day or it will be forfeited.
*All horses or ponies must be 4 years old or over. Mare or Gelding only unless otherwise stated.
*Rings will not be held up under any circumstances.
*Unmannerly behaviour towards officials will not be tolerated.
*NO BOXES TO BE MUCKED OUT ON SHOWGROUND £10 PENALTY BY- LAW.

Class 1: The BSPS Mixed Height Novice Show Hunter Pony Mare or gelding 4yrs or over, not exceeding 153cm. Riders to be the correct age for the height of pony they ride
Class 2: The BSPS Mixed Height Open Show Hunter Pony Mare or Gelding 4 years old or over, not exceeding 153cms. Riders MUST be the correct age for the height of the animal they ride. The 1st prize winner will qualify for the BSPS Binks Family Champion of Champions.
