BSCPC Tetrathlon 2017

So the rain stayed away and BSCPC played host to our now annual Tetrathlon on Sunday. With nearly 100 competitors it was a busy day; I must start with a huge thank you to all our helpers who made it such a successful day, from the seasoned Tetrathlon families who already know how it works to the uninitiated who embraced the occasion just as enthusiastically. I have received lots of complimentary comments from other clubs, particularly about the friendly, smiley approach we have, so thank you again from me.

I’m delighted to report that we had the biggest entry for years from within our own ranks (18 competitors), and some fine performances all round.

Our intermediate girls team of Victoria Barrow, Saskia Bolt and first-timer Rosie McDermott wonas a team with 3 very creditable scores. Victoria won overall and continues to improve with each event.

In the junior girls Lottie Hadden-Wight and Gabby Bolt battled each other closely all day with Lottie squeezing it at the end. 2 strong tetrathletes going head to head and finishing 2nd and 4rd individually. Emmi Magee had a difficult ride with a couple of falls but a good day otherwise finishing 8th, newcomer Calia Logan-Griffin finished 6th in the triathlon with an impressive shoot and swim; Mia Newton was ill and withdrew during the day but I’m sure will be back to fight another day.

Our mini girls group of Gemma Sinclair-Williams, Imogen Onions, Evie Neary and Hannah Szubert had a lovely day, with 3 of the 4 doing a full Tetrathlon for the first time. They all performed extremely well – Gemma was clear XC, and Imogen had a good run and shoot (reward for coming to practice). They finished just 6 points apart and less than 20 points outside the placings in a strong field. Meanwhile Evie and Hannah completed their first XC with big smiles and no problems, and finished close to each other with impressive total scores for their first event. Well done to the team for their 3rd place (and apologies to Hannah for missing her out of the team).

Our munchkins was also a mixture of seasoned campaigners and first-timers, although all of them are new to the shooting this year. Finlay Laszlo, Lulu Saunders and Antonia Stewart all scored over 3,500 points – welcome to the big time guys.Lois Cooper had her usual strong ride, and welcome to Scarlett Maxwell and Faline Logan-Griffin, both competing in their first PC competition of any sort. Congratulations on getting round the XC, and promising performances in the other 3 events.

Apologies if I’ve missed anything out – it’s just there were so many of you!

Tetrathlon is a fabulous sport and hopefully you all enjoyed the day. If anyone else feels they are missing out and wants to join in please contact me.
