2/23/10 Committee Meeting Minutes

In Attendance: Louis Meneghetti, Holly Meredith, Tracey Rumsey Riley, Kenny Roach, Steve Zoeller, Bernard Peck, Ron Taylor, Juliette Shelli Bell, Xiomara Taylor, Erika Meneghetti, Erin Leong, Mark Hardwick, Heather Davis.

January Committee Minutes: Motion made & approved to accept January Minutes as is.

Financial Report – Ron Taylor

1.  Cash Balance is currently $17,552.92. Working cash balance less committed obligations and including regular Scout Account receivables of $2,183.01 is $6,488.19. The majority is owed by Scouts with Flag subscriptions going to High Adventure Camps so we are allowing them a little time to collect and use flag funds for the costs.

2.  Outstanding items are: We have agreed to purchase Troop Coolers for the campout Grubmasters to use on campouts and other activities.

3.  Scout Accounts went out February 6.

4.  The Balance in the Matthew Schmitt Memorial Fund is $2,745 made up of $75 in Wal-Mart debit cards and $2,670 in cash.

5.  The 7th of seven installments for Philmont is due April 30, 2010 for $1,200.

6.  The second of three installments for Summer Camp is due March 5, 2010 of $100 per scout followed buy the third at $100 per scout on May 7, 2010 for a total of $210 per scout. Scouts can be added after May 7, 2010 for a total of $230.

7.  The Second half payment for Sea Base is due March 11, 2010 of $2,425.

Committee Chair Report: Kenny Roach

Medical Forms Chair (Larry Iwasaki): not present.

Name Tags/Class B Shirts/1288 Patches /Mess kits: (Holly Meredith): handed out patches to new leaders. Name tags ordered, but not in yet.

Flag Sales Chair (Steve Zoeller): Now is the time to get involved and sell “Flags Across America.” Steve has brought renewal letters for Scouts. Steve is proposing new flags and perhaps we could have the scout bring the old flag in to exchange for a new flag. Bernard proposes March 13th would be a good day to have the exchange take place during the Skills Day. Fundraiser yields $30 for a flag, $24 to scout account and $6 goes back in to troop flag replacement fund. Motion made and approved for $720 for new flags.

COH Chair (Holly Meredith/Melinda Utley): April 27th at 7pm with Dessert only.

Next Committee Meeting is March 30, 2010 & Next Court of Honor is April 27, 2010

Scoutmaster Report – Bernard Peck

Reviewed activities:

Jan 23 Arbor Day conservation project– Lasted 1 hour, 21 people from the troop and largest group there. Turned out well.

Feb 13 - MB Fair went well and 7 adults went through CPR training and received their certification.

Feb 19-21 Lake Somerville campout was cancelled due to high water in state park. A Cycling event was planned in lieu of that campout. 6 scouts did the 20 mile for their cycling MB.

March 6th, 17 scouts signed up for MB at Texas A&M – meet at 5am and get back at 9pm

March 13th, entire family is invited to Skills Day – need committee to fund this from 9am to 1pm

New requirement for 2nd class advancement: The scout and his parents must agree on how the funds for scouting will be earned for a 2nd class advancement.

Future 2010 Activities:

March 6: Texas A&M Merit Badge University (8am – 5:40pm) $23 (lunch provided) Troop will eat dinner together on the way home.

March 26-28: Camporee at Camp Brosig & SFA State Park

April 9-11: SFA State Park

May 14-16: Lake Texanna Camp-out

Summer Camp: June 20th – 26th week at El Rancho Cima – River Camp

High adventure at Seabase in Florida is June 9-15, 2010.

High adventure at Philmont is July 13-26, 2010

New Business:

Kenny would like the Troop Committee to consider paying OA member dues as a group in 2011.

Set up time to discuss tents and analyze the Troop needs for tents.

Set up time to address the MJS Memorial Fund and possible merger of bank accounts.
