Short Biography
I hold an M.Ed. in Computer Based Education from the University of Georgia and a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Kentucky. I have over 20 years of experience in the design, development, delivery, implementation, evaluation, and management of educational products and enterprises. My main areas of focus include custom applications of traditional Instructional System Design (ISD) models, learning object creation and management, learning object repositories, digital repository configuration, mobile learning solution design, and metadata strategy development. I have classroom teaching experience across the entire lifespan of students and learners. I currently facilitate strategical planning workshops and presentations on planning and implementing large-scale technologically-based educational platforms for Fortune 500 companies and higher-education organizations around the globe.

My core responsibility is working with global and sophisticated clients to architect and implement large-scale learning platform implementations. Services delivered to clients included detailed business process analysis, workflow analysis and definition, tool selection (LMS, LCMS, authoring tools, media production and editing tools, etc…), template definition and creation to facilitate content development, metadata schema creation and implementation, instructional design and strategy development, and similar services.

Graduate Research Assistant, University of Georgia: July 1993 -July 1994

My primary responsibilities were to both assist professors in preparing for and teaching courses to students in teacher preparation programs and to build a set of evaluation tools for educators and instructional designers to evaluate instructional/classroom materials.

Learning and Instructional Design Consultant, Self-employed: May 1990 – July 1993

I served as an independent consultant for a variety of universities and community colleges who were in the early stages of implementing instructional technologies. I assisted these institutions in selecting technologies, developing CAI for the classroom, and developing requisite skills for faculty and staff to support these initiatives. The work that I undertook garnered several regional and international awards.

Project Manager and Lead Architect, KIRKSVILLE, MO

Collaborated with a consortium of medical-education related entities to design, develop, and implement a shared learning platform. The platform included authoring tools, LCMS, and multiple LMS’s. Representative schools were colleges of Allied Health, Dentistry, Health Education, and Medicine. Design considerations covered: federated searching capabilities; content development templates;metadata schema, controlled vocabulary, and taxonomy design and incorporation of both medical-related and learning-related standards.

Worked with the largest change management consulting company in the world to design, develop, and implement a global learning platform from scratch. The project was focused on building a platform that supported a managed-service model for delivering online training to a complex ecosystem of multiple lines of business, multiple languages/cultures, and various partners.

Led a series of workshops on e-Learning trend and Best Practices to group of e-Learning content developers that develop Arabic language content for the Middle East market. Hands-on exercises on creating metadata application profiles, VDEX content taxonomies, and SCORM conformant XML-based content development templates.

PROJECT MANAGER AND Workshop Leader, ADELPHI, MARYLAND

Managed and facilitated the development and implementation of a new learning platform and associated processes for the largest public online university in the world.

Managed a 18 month project that focused on combining three disparate ISD processes across a large, distributed, national corporate for-profit higher education organization. Strong emphasis on unifying instructional design processes and associated workflows for classroom, blended, and online courseware deliveries.

Led a series of workshops and exercises aimed at helping the Royal Saudi Naval Forces build a comprehensive e-Learning strategy. Participants in the program received a certificate in e-Learning as a result of their participation.

Technology and Development Tools

Extensive Internet/intranet development experience with VBScript, JavaScript, ASP, DHTML, XML/XSD/XSL/XSLT, and Access/SQL Server/Oracle. Worked as an enterprise database developer before becoming involved in instructional design.

Extensive application experience with HarvestRoad Hive and Giunti Labs learn eXact suite including the development of mobile learning solutions constructed around standards and emerging technologies. Broad authoring tool experience including Authorware, Toolbook, and TenCore among several others. Also have worked on numerous LMS integration projects with most major LMS vendors.
