  1. A TEAM SHALL CONSIST OF A MINIMUM OF FOUR PLAYERS, ONE OF WHICH MUST BE OF THE OPPOSITE SEX, AND ALL OF WHICH MUST BE REGISTERED MEMBERS OF THE BROWARDCOUNTY DARTING ASSOCIATION, INC. A TEAM MAY NOT CONSIST OF MORE THAN SEVEN ACTIVE PLAYERS. TO ADD MORE THAN THE ORIGINAL SEVEN, THE BOARD MUST BE ADVISED OF ANY DELETIONS TO KEEP THE TEAM PROFILE WITHIN THE SEVEN PLAYER LIMIT.
  2. NEW TEAM PLAYERS MAY BE ADDED AT ANY TIME DURING THE SEASON, EXCEPT FOR THE LAST-TWO WEEKS OF REGULAR SEASON SCHEDULED PLAY. AT LEAST 24 HOURS NOTICE TO AN OFFICER, PRIOR TO THE MATCH, MUST BE GIVEN TO REGISTER A NEW MEMBER. V. FORFEITS/RESCHEDULES

  1. A FORFEIT WILL BE DECLARED FOR FAILURE OF A TEAM TO ATTEND A SCHEDULED MATCH. HOWEVER, ANY NUMBER OF PLAYERS WHO SHOW UP FOR THE MATCH SHOULD PLAY AS MANY GAMES AS POSSIBLE. THE SHORT HANDED TEAM MAY PLAY ONLY AS MANY SINGLE GAMES AS THERE ARE PLAYERS. THEY MAY TAKE ONLY AS MANY TURNS IN THE MULTIPLE GAMES AS THERE ARE PLAYERS, i.e., IN THE FOUR PERSON MATCH THEY WOULD ONLY HAVE THREE TURNS TO THE OTHER TEAMS FOUR TURNS.
  2. A FORFEIT MAY BE DECLARED FOR THE USE OF AN UNREGISTERED PLAYER. THIS USE OF AN UNREGISTERED PLAYER WILL RESULT IN THE EFFECTED GAMES BEING FORFEITED. IT IS A TEAMS RESPONSIBILITY TO ACCEPT THE PENALTY OF PLAYING SHORT-HANDED, If THEY CANNOT FIELD A FULL TEAM OF ONLY THEIR REGISTERED PLAYERS:
  3. THE PENALTY FOR THE USE OF AN UNREGISTERED PLAYER IS AS FOLLOWS:

1.)THE GAMES PLAYED BY THE UNREGISTERED PLAYER WILL BE FORFEITED AND THE POINTS AWARDED TO THE OTHER TEAM.

2.)THE CAPTAIN WILL RECEIVE A WARNING, AND BE ADVISED THAT A SECOND INFRACTION WILL RESULT IN SUSPENSION FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE SEASON AND THE ENTIRE NEXT SEASON.

  1. THE INTENT OF THE LEAGUE IS FOR A GROUP OF PEOPLE TO GET TOGETHER ON TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, OR THURSDAY NIGHTS AND PLAY DARTS IN A SPIRIT OF FRIENDSHIP AND COMPETITION. BECAUSE OF THE COMPETITIVE ASPECT, SOME TEAMS WILL PUT FORTH MORE EFFORT THAN OTHERS. BECAUSE OF THIS, IN THE PAST, UNWARRANTED FORFEITURES HAVE BEEN TO THE DETRIMENT OF THOSE PUTTING FORTH THE EFFORT, THEREFORE:

1.)ANY FORFEIT DURING THE SEASON WILL CONSTITUTE A FORFEIT OF THE SEASON. THE FORFEITING TEAM WILL BE ELIMINATED FROM THE SCHEDULE. 13, 15 OR 19 POINTS WILL BE AWARDED, AS THE STANDINGS ARE BASED ON A WIN PERCENTAGE FORMULA. THIS WILL BE CALCULATED BY DIVIDING THE TOTAL WINS BY THE TOTAL GAMES PLAYED, THE RESULT EXPRESSED IN A DECIMAL EQUIVALENT OF THREE PLACES. "EXAMPLE" 50 WINS DIVIDED BY 100 GAMES PLAYED EQUALS 50% OR .500.

2.)IF THE FORFEIT OCCURS AT ANY TIME BEFORE THE MID-POINT OF THE SEASON ALL MATCHES PLAYED WILL BECOME VOID AND THE SCORE WILL REVERT TO 13 TO 0, FOR THOSE GAMES AND ANY UNPLAYED GAMES STILL REMAINING IN THE FIRST HALF. IN OTHER WORDS EACH TEAM WILL RECEIVE 13 POINTS. IN THE A AND MASTERS DIVISIONS THE MATCHES WILL BECOME 15 TO 0, AND EACH TEAM WILL RECEIVE 15 POINTS. 19 POINTS IN POWER *19*.

3.)IF THE FORFEIT OCCURS IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE SEASON ALL FIRST-HALF SCORES WILL STAND AS RECORDED, AND THE RULE AS STATED ABOVE WILL APPLY TO THE SECOND HALF.

4.)THE FORFEITING TEAM OR ANY MEMBER THEREOF MAY NOT BE ALLOWED TO PLAY IN THE LEAGUE THE FOLLOWING SEASON AT THE DISCRETION OF THE BOARD.

  1. IF A TEAM CAPTAIN CAN FORESEE A FORFEIT, HE MUST NOTIFY THE OTHER TEAM CAPTAIN AND RESCHEDULE THE MATCH AT LEAST 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE. THE TEAM CAPTAIN'S MUST THEN BOTH NOTIFY THE LEAGUE, BY CALLING THE LEAUGE RECORDER, OF THE DATE AND TIME OF THE RESCHEDULED MATCH. RESCHEDULED MATCHES SHOULD BE MADE UP WITHIN TWO WEEKS OF THE ORIGINALLY SCHEDULED MATCH EXCEPT AS FOLLOWS:

1.)MATCHES CAN BE PLAYED PRIOR TO THE SCHEDULED DATE IF BOTH CAPTAINS AGREE TO THIS.

2.)A RESCHEDULED MATCH CAN BE MADE UP AFTER TWO WEEKS OF THE ORIGINALLY SCHEDULED DATE IF THE LEAGUE IS NOTIFIED BY CALLING THE LEAGUE RECORDER, OF THE DATE AND TIME OF THE RESHEDULE, AND THAT DATE AND TIME IS ADHERED TO. IF THE DATE AND TIME OF A RESCHEDULED MATCH IS NOT ADHERED TO THE FORFEIT PENALTY COULD BE IMPOSED ON ONE OR BOTH TEAMS.

3.)EACH TEAM IS ALLOWED ONE RESCHEDULE PER HALF SEASON AND WHEN A RESCHEDULE OCCURS, THE TEAM RESCHEDULING MUST PROPOSE TWO ALTERNATE DATES.

4.)A CAPTAIN IS OBLIGATED TO RESCHEDULE A MATCH IF THE PRECEEDING PROVISIONS HAVE BEEN MET.

5.)NO RESCHEDULES DURING LAST 3 WEEKS OF SEASON (EXCEPT IF PLAYED PRIOR TO THE DATE AND APPROVED BY THE LEAGUE).

VI. PROTESTS

  1. ONLY CAPTAINS CAN FILE PROTESTS. PROTESTS MAY BE MADE ON THE REVERSE SIDE OF THE SCORE SHEETS. DETAILS MUST BE SUBMITTED TO THE BOARD OR ANY OFFICER THEREOF, IN WRITING WITHIN FIVE DAYS AFTER THE ALLEGED INFRACTION, OR THE PROTEST WILL BE INVALID. UPON RECEIPT OF A PROTEST, THE BOARD MEMBERS AND THE DIVISION CAPTAINS WILL CONDUCT A PROTEST HEARING WITHIN FIVE DAYS AND MAKE A FINAL DETERMINATION OF SAID PROTEST. WITNESSES OR OTHER EVIDENCE MAY BE PRESENTED AT THE HEARING IF DEEMED NECESSARY BY THE BOARD.
  2. PROTESTS OVER EQUIPMENT, OR LACK OF, OR QUALITY OF, MUST BE MADE TO THE OPPOSING CAPTAIN PRIOR TO THE START OF THE MATCH, AND IT MUST BE STATED ON THE REVERSE OF THE SCORE SHEET THAT THE MATCH IS BEING PLAYED UNDER PROTEST FOR EQUIPMENT REASONS.

  4. THE BOARD SHALL BE ALLOWED TO USE DISCRETION IN RULE ENFORCEMENT IF EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES EXIST.
  5. THE BOARD MUST NOTIFY ALL PARTIES INVOLVED IF THERE IS A COMPLAINT.

VII. SCORING

  1. ALL GAMES ARE PRECEDED BY A FLIP OF THE COIN. THE WINNER SHALL HAVE THE OPTION OF SHOOTING THE CORK FIRST OR SECOND, TO DETERMINE WHO STARTS THE GAME. A CORK SHOT IS VALID AS LONG AS IT FALLS ANYWHERE ON THE PLAYING SURFACE.
  2. 01 GAMES THAT REQUIRE A DOUBLE ON TO BEGIN SCORING – THE DARTMUSTLAND IN THE OUTER DOUBLE RING OR THE DOUBLE BULL. THAT DART AND ALL SUBSEQUENT DARTS SHALL BE COUNTED FOR SCORE.
  3. 01 GAMES THAT DO NOT REQUIRE A DOUBLE ON – SCORING BEGINS IMMEDIATLEY WITH ALL DARTS THAT SCORE.
  4. TO WIN IN 01, THE LAST THROWN DART BY A PLAYER MUST LAND IN A DOUBLE THAT REDUCES THE SCORE TO EXACTLY ZERO.
  5. BUST RULES:A PLAYER BUSTS WHEN HIS DARTS SCORE MORE POINTS THAN REMAIN ON HIS SCORE. WHEN THIS OCCURS THE SCORE REMAINS THE SAME AS IT WAS PRIOR TO HIS TURN. IF AFTER A TURN THE REMAINING SCORE IS ONE, THIS IS A BUST, BECAUSE YOU CANNOT TAKE ONE OUT WITH A DOUBLE.
  6. FAST FINISHES SUCH AS 3 IN A BED, 111, 222, SHANGHAI ETC., DO NOT APPLY IN LEAGUE PLAY.
  7. ADO RULES-AMERICAN CRICKET: ONLY THE NUMBERS 20 THROUGH 15 AND THE BULLSEYE ARE USED IN SCORING. THE OBJECT OF CRICKET IS TO CLOSE (SCORE EACH NUMBER 3 TIMES, EITHER BY 3 SINGLES, A SINGLE AND A DOUBLE, OR A TRIPLE) EACH OF THE NUMBERS 20 THRU 15 AND THE BULL. THE FIRST TEAM TO CLOSE ALL NUMBERS AND BE EQUAL TO OR AHEAD IN SCORE WINS THE GAME.
  8. POINTS IN CRICKET: SCORE (POINTS) IS ACCUMULATED BY HAVING A NUMBER CLOSED, WHILE THE OTHER TEAM DOES NOT, AND HITTING ADDITIONAL DARTS IN THAT NUMBER. THE SCORE COUNTS FACE VALUE INCLUDING DOUBLES AND TRIPLES. THE SINGLE BULL COUNTS 25 POINTS AND THE DOUBLE BULL 50 POINTS.
  9. IT IS MANDATORY TO HAVE A TEAM MEMBER KEEP SCORE EACH GAME IF THE BOARD SETUP IS SUITABLE. THE HOME TEAM SHOULD KEEP SCORE THE FIRST GAME AND ALTERNATE WITH THE VISITING TEAM.
  10. ANY CHANGES TO CORRECT MISTAKES IN SCORING OR CALLING MUST BE CORRECTED BEFORE THE OPPONENT THROWS; OTHERWISE THE SCORING REMAINS AS POSTED.
  11. IF A PLAYER THROWS OUT OF TURN, THE OPPOSING TEAM HAS THE OPTION OF HAVING THE ROUND RETHROWN OR ALLOWING THE ROUND TO STAND AS THROWN.
  12. COACHING IS ALLOWED BY A PLAYERS OWN TEAM MEMBER. THE SCOREKEEPER MAY ONLY TELL A PLAYER WHAT WAS SCORED ON A SINGLE DART, AND THE SCORE THAT STILL REMAINS.
  13. REMEMBER WHY YOU ARE AT THE SCOREBOARD, TO KEEP SCORE.
  14. AFTER SHOOTING FOR BULL THE FIRST OF A CONTEST, PLACE THE WINNERS NAME ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE OF THE SCOREBOARD, AND THE OPPONENTS NAME ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE. KEEP THESE POSITIONS THROUGHOUT THE CONTEST.
  15. THE SCOREKEEPER SHOULD NOT DRINK WHILE KEEPING SCORE.
  16. THE SCOREKEEPER SHOULD NOT SMOKE WHILE KEEPING SCORE.
  17. THE SCOREKEEPER SHOULD NOT SOCIALIZE WHILE KEEPING SCORE.
  18. THE SCOREKEEPER SHOULD STAND TO THE SIDE, FACING THE BOARD, KEEPING STILL AND SILENT. WHEN ROOM IS NOT AVAILABLE THE SCOREKEEPER SHOULD STEP BACK BEHIND THE SHOOTING LINE, AND GO TO THE SCOREBOARD AFTER EACH PLAYERS TURN.
  19. THE SCOREKEEPER SHOULD NOT LOOK BACK TOWARD THE SHOOTER AT ANYTIME WHILE PLAY IS IN PROGRESS.
  20. THE SCOREKEEPER SHOULD MAKE SURE THAT DARTS REMAIN IN THE BOARD, UNTIL SCORES HAVE BEEN PROPERLY TALLIED AND AGREED TO. IT IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO SETTLE A DISPUTE AFTER THE DARTS HAVE BEEN REMOVED.
  21. AFTER THE THIRD DART IS THROWN, THE SCOREKEEPER, SHOULD ANNOUNCE THE TOTAL SCORE THE PLAYER SHOULD RESPOND IN AGREEMENT, OR SAY THE SCORE HE FEELS IS CORRECT, TALLY THE SCORE AGAIN, ANDDO NOT REMOVE THE DARTS UNTIL ALL PARTIES AGREE.
  22. THE SCOREKEEPER SHOULD NOT MAKE ANY CORRECTIONS ON THE SCOREBOARD WHILE A PLAYER IS ON THE THROWING LINE. ALWAYS ANNOUNCE WHEN A SCORE IS BEING CORRECTED.
  23. WHEN THE GAME IS OVER, THE SCOREKEEPER SHOULD ACKNOWLEDGE BY A HAND SIGNAL, OR BY ANNOUNCING "GAME SHOT".

VIII. LEAGUE SCHEDULING

A.THE LEAGUE SCHEDULE SHALL CONSIST OF AS MANY WEEKS AS TO ALLOW EACH TEAM WITHIN A DIVISION TO MEET AT LEAST TWICE.
