Jr. PDTD’s Mission

Our mission is to build self-esteem, discipline and the drive for excellence among the Washington DC/MD/VA youth through the process of rigorous professional dance training and arts education. We want to provide professional performance opportunities for dancers and enhance Washington’s rich cultural diversity.

Tuition

The Positive Directions through Dance Program (PDTD) is a free program based on eligibility for DC residents ages 6-12.

Enrollment

PDTD will provide services and dance instruction for 30 district residents ages 6-12. We are currently enrolling on a rolling basis until we reach program capacity.

PDTD Ballet

[Ages 8-12 Conservatory Ballet Classes will be scheduled on a case by case basis. All students ages 8-12 must audition for this program. Please communicate with Program Manager Mark Teon Henderson for more information]

Academic Enrichment:

Tutoring is offered Monday-Thursday from 4-7pm. Please communicate with Program Manager for additional information.

Food/ Snack Program:

Our free food program provides participants with daily nutrition and tasty meals to contribute to the wellness, healthy growth, and development of high school participants.

Dress Code

Students must arrive for class in proper dance attire.Otherwise, students will not be permitted to take class.

Hip Hop: Comfortable Clothing

Ballet: (Black leotard) Hair must be pulled back into a bun pinned securely away from the face and neck.

*All other dance disciplines follow the same dress code with the exception of wearing the proper shoes for each discipline of dance.
