HOLIDAY WORRIES
Brits spend 3 hours a day on holiday worrying about what we’ve left behind!
It is meant to be a time to relax and unwind from the stresses of everyday life.
However a new study has revealed Brits spend an average of THREE HOURS a day of their holiday worrying - about everything from money and work, to the house and garden.
Almost half of us jet off to sunnier climates with a head full of niggling fears with 10 per cent of us admitting worrying often casts a cloud over our holiday!
And according to the study, in many cases arriving at the hotel, checking in and unpacking our belongings doesn’t do anything to ease worries.
The study, commissioned by Hozelock, which has launched the Aquasolo, a clever device that waters your plants while you are away from home, also revealed other most prominent worries include whether or not we locked all the doors before leaving the house, and even whether all the plants were watered sufficiently.
Being undermined by work colleagues, fears over our property being burgled and falling ill on our sunshine break are also common worries.
The research revealed finances cause us the most stress during our getaways, with general money worries the most common cause for concern.
Keeping an eye on our belongings, both on our person and back at the hotel was the second biggest worry.
Overspending was third, our house being burgled was fourth and the health of a relative was fifth.
The welfare of our pets back home in kennels or staying with friends also ranked highly as did avoiding nasty holiday stomach bugs.
13 per cent said they always worry on holiday while 35 per cent said they worry ‘regularly’.
14 per cent said they worry for a significant amount of time and 85 per cent worry ‘on and off’.
Of those who fret as they are laying on a sun-lounger by the pool, nearly 20 per cent have gone as far as to call and ask friend to check something, or do something they forgot about.
Around two per cent have flown home early after being overcome by worry.
11 per cent have called a neighbour, while 23 per cent have called a relative.
It also emerged 15 per cent worry more on holiday than they do at home, and 40 per cent said fear or worry sets in before they go.
Most (35 per cent) said worries occur a week before jetting off, while 27 per cent said one month before.
