As the first reviews journal in the field of business and management, IJMR has come to have a unique identity. It is not least an essential reference tool for business academics and doctoralstudents alike. The journal covers all the main management sub-disciplines including, for example, HRM, OB, International and Strategic Management, Operations Management, Management Sciences, Information Systems and Technology Management, Accounting and Finance, and Marketing. Each issue includesstate-of-the-art literature review articles/surveys which examine the relevant literature published on a specific aspect of the sub-discipline, for example, HRM: Appraisal Systems.
IJMR complements the other publications produced by BAM and is deliberately targeted at a wide readership interested in business and management. The journal publishes authoritative literature surveys and reviews. These address the intellectual and academic needs of the broad academic management community both in the UK and on a wider global scale.
The journal receives around 300manuscripts a year (this has increased substantially under the current editors)and the average time for first decisions (which is accept, revise and resubmit, or reject after a first round of review) is 75 days. The average time for desk rejection is 6 days.
IJMR is part of BAM’s growing portfolio of journals which includes the British Journal of Management (BJM). It publishes four issues a year. The Editors-in-Chief sit on the Academy’s Council and make a significant contribution to its broader communication/publishing strategy set-out above. In addition, they make an important contribution to the Academy’s Annual September Conference.
The selection of the Joint Editor-in-Chief will be made by the BAM Research and Publications Committee and the person appointed will be expected to work closely with that Committee in developing the future strategy of the journal.
All applications will be treated confidentially. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to meet with the Research and Publications Selection Panel and Wiley (publishers) to discuss the appointment in April. The successful candidate will be expected to work with and ‘shadow’ the existing editorial teamfrom mid-2016, and take up the role in time to work on the production of the October 2016 issue.
