IMPORTANT: Aquatic First Aid Changes for Coaches
Dear Trainer,
Administration of aquatic first aid and all other BCU Lifeguard first aid awards will be moving from BCU HQ to BCU Lifeguards within the next year.
Final details for the switch over have yet to be confirmed; however, as part of this process we will be updating all our records as a matter of course.
To assist us with this, can you please present evidence to show;
1) Current membership of your National Canoe Association (showing coaching qualification)
2) A current first aid award of at least 16 hours duration.

Once these have been processed you will received a new “Aquatic First Aid Level 1 Coach Award” certificate and will, in due course, receive a copy of the newly produced ‘AFA Trainers Resource Pack’ which contains a variety of teaching resources as well as forms and other important information.
We would also like to take this opportunity to remind trainers that all candidates should leave their course with either the Voluntary Aid Society First Aid Manual, BCU Lifeguards First Aid Manual or a set of BCU Lifeguard approved course notes. The BCU Lifeguards First Aid Manual is designed to accompany the AFA course and costs just £5. Manuals can be purchased online via the BCU Lifeguards Shop. Visit www.bculifeguards.org.uk to order.
