Present: Diane Graca, Luke Travis, Mike Kennedy, Mary Louise Champagne, Jennifer Heald, Jerry Hall, Claire Sullivan, Jane Sullivan, Maria Moukhtarian and Richard Bergeron.

Called to order: 8:35 am by Diane Graca.

Secretary’s Report: Minutes previously e-mailed by Trish Hunter were approved.

Treasurer’s Report: forward via e-mail and reported by Diane Graca. Present treasury balance is $7,802.76, with biggest upcoming expense being payment to National of $100 for annual dues and $1200 for website hosting fee. We have budgeted $1,000.00 for two Jay Sullivan Awards in 2012. Treasurer’s Report also approved.

Committee Reports: Maria Moukhtarian updated the schedule of remaining meetings for 2012:

January 19thThursday, Dinner meeting at Audrey’s in Seekonk; Speaker: Luke Travis on charitable giving. Dinner menu was selected.

February 16th, Thursday, Breakfast meeting at Emeritus at Dartmouth, Slocum Road, Dartmouth, hosted by Leah Doroch; NAEPC feedback with Jerry Hall .

March 22nd, Thursday, Dinner meeting at White’s; Speaker Steve Hanna, former Judicial Case Manager, Bristol County Probate Court, now a conciliation, mediation and probate consultant

April 23rd, May 1st and May 9th, Scattered site Estate Planning Panel Presentations for the public. April 23rd to be held at Bristol Elder Services,1 Fr. DeValles Blvd., Fall River, May 9th to be held at Mansfield Bank, and May 1st to be held in New Bedford at the New Bedford Public Library. Jane Sullivan chairs the Fall River site, Jennifer Heald the New Bedford site and Diane Graca the Mansfield site. Contact the site chairs for more information. Flyers will be developed.

May 24th, Thursday, Annual Meeting at Benjamin’s Restaurant in Taunton. Speaker: Chris Herron, former Durfee High School basketball standout, who went from playing for the Boston Celtics to addiction to drugs. Now clean and sober, he shares his experiences with audiences of all ages and is the subject of an ESPN special “Unguarded”. The Council is ordering 40 copies of his book from Baker Books in Dartmouth, at a cost of $18.74 per book (a discount of 25%), which will be available for purchase and to be autographed. A Publicity Committee specifically for this event was formed, with members including Maria Moukhtarion, Jane Sullivan, Diane Graca and Mary Louise Champagne. Maria Moukhtarian will contact Chris Herron’s contact person for additional information that may assist in this effort.

Membership: stands at approximately 60. Mike Kennedy and Jerry Hall plan to continue their recruiting efforts at law firms and CPA firms in BristolCounty.

Publicity: Diane Graca and Luke Travis will work on improving publicity of Council events, in particular our charitable endeavors, such as the Jay Sullivan awards.

New Business: Letters soliciting nominations for the Jay Sullivan Awards will be e-mailed to Council members and available at the January Dinner meeting. Jane Sullivan will chair the committee and nominations will be reviewed by Jane, Debra Maltais and Claire Sullivan. Awards will be presented at the annual meeting.

Next meeting will be Wednesday, February 8th at 8:30 AM at Elders First.
