December 2013 Monthly Report
SIGNIFICANT EVENTS
12/03 Bayshore Boulevard/ Valley Drive Psychiatric Hold
Officers were dispatched to a report of a man lying in the lane of traffic. When officers arrived, the subject made comments to jump into traffic. The subject was determined to be a danger to himself and was transported to the hospital for evaluation. Report #13-1203-0001.
12/03 5000 Sierra Point Parkway Hit and Run
Officers responded to a report of a hit and run. Officers arrived and determined that an unknown vehicle attempted to park next to the victim vehicle and collided with it. The unknown vehicle then left the area with notifying the owner of the vehicle that was struck. This case has been suspended. Report #12-1203-0002.
12/04 3800 block of Bayshore Boulevard Psychiatric Hold
A subject called 911 and told dispatch the she wanted to harm herself. Officers responded and determined the subject that called to be a danger to herself. The subject was transported to the hospital for evaluation. Report #13-1204-0001.
12/05 Unit block of San Benito Road Petty Theft
The reporting party advised that between 12/04/13 and 12/05/13 an unknown subject entered her unlock vehicle and took two make up bags. The estimated loss is $338.00. This case has been suspended pending further leads. Report #13-1205-0001.
12/05 700 block of Humboldt Road Petty Theft
Between 12/04/13 and 12/05/13, an unknown subject entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and took his wallet. A credit card inside the wallet was used shortly afterward. A subsequent investigation determined no evidentiary leads to a suspect. This case has been suspended pending further leads. Report #13-1205-0003.
12/05 100 block Mendocino Street Petty Theft
Between 12/04/13 and 12/05/13, an unknown subject entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and took several miscellaneous items inside the vehicle. The estimated loss is $237.00. This case has been suspended pending further leads. Report #13-1205-0004.
12/06 3300 block of Bayshore Boulevard Road Hazard
Officers responded to a report of rocks in the roadway. Due to heavy rains prior to the incident, several medium size rocks naturally degraded from the hillside and rolled onto the roadway. Three vehicles were unable to avoid the rocks causing several flat tires. This report was taken for information only. Report #13-1207-0001.
12/10 Bayshore Boulevard / Guadalupe Parkway Warrant Arrest
An Officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop. A records check of the driver revealed that he had a no bail warrant for probation violation. The driver was arrested and transported to jail. Report #13-1210-0001.
12/14 200 block of San Bruno Avenue Domestic Related Incident
Officers responded to a male and female that were involved in an argument over the female leaving for a couple hours to hang out with her friends at a local bar. At one point the male half left their child at home while the baby was asleep to get his girlfriend at the bar. This case has been forwarded to Child Protective Services for review. 12/15 3800 block of Bayshore Boulevard Driving under the Influence
Officers responded to a report that a male driver had backed his vehicle up into a mobile home, damaging the lower skirting. Officers arrived and contacted the driver. The driver was determined to be driving under the influence of alcohol. The driver was transported to First Chance and released on a promise to appear citation. Report #13-1215-0001.
12/15 200 block of Klamath Street Dangerous Animal Permit
Officers responded to an incident where the reporting party’s two small dogs were attacked by another larger dog. The investigation determined that the larger dog got out of the yard without the owner knowing. The investigation concluded with a recommendation to the city by the San Mateo County SPCA to require the owner to comply with a Danger Animal Permit. Report #13-1215-0002.
12/18 200 block of Mariposa Street Runaway Juvenile
Child Protective Services reported that a juvenile was staying with her boyfriend. The father asked her to come home but refused. CPS instructed the father to file a missing person report. Officers responded to the boyfriend’s residence and returned the female juvenile home to her father. This case was taken for information only. Report #13-1218-0001.
12/18 500 block of Valley Drive Located Stolen Vehicle
While on routine patrol, officers located a vehicle that showed obvious signs of being stolen and dumped. The steering wheel was missing and several safety devices were missing from the vehicle. The vehicle’s owner was notified and the vehicle was towed. Report #13-1218-0001.
12/19 3800 block of Bayshore Boulevard Petty Theft
The reporting party advised that between 12/16/13 and 12/17/13, he suspects that a subject he hired may have taken his wallet while inside his residence. The victim hired his neighbor to help him with some work for his residence. Sometime while his neighbor was inside his house working, the victim’s wallet was taken. The reporting party has no independent witnesses to prove his neighbor took his wallet. The estimated loss is $700.00. This case has been suspended pending further leads. Report #13-1219-0001.
12/19 200 block of Mariposa Street Felony Vandalism
Officers responded to a report of a male subject that was that was seen vandalizing a vehicle by jumping on the hood. The suspect is known to the victim. The victim alleges that a total of three of his cars were vandalized by the suspect. The estimated damages to the vehicles exceed $1,000.00. The suspect was located and placed under arrest for felony vandalism. The suspect was booked into jail. Report #13-1219-0002.
12/20 Bayshore Boulevard / Valley Drive Possession of Marijuana
An Officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle. While contacting the driver the officer smelled the odor of Marijuana emanating from the vehicle. A probable cause search of the vehicle lead to the discovery of the driver having possession of marijuana without a marijuana medical card. The driver was cited and released at the scene. Report #13-1220-001.
12/20 Bayshore Boulevard / Old County Rd. Possession of Marijuana
An Officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle. While contacting the driver the officer smelled the odor of Marijuana emanating from the vehicle. A probable cause search of the vehicle lead to the discovery of the driver having possession of marijuana without a marijuana medical card. The driver was also determined to be driving with a suspended license. The driver was cited and released at the scene. Report #13-1220-002.
12/21 200 block of Klamath Street Vandalism
Unknown suspect(s) used an unknown tool to break the right side view mirrors of two parked vehicles. The total estimated cost of the damages was $380.00. Report #13-1221-0001
12/22 100 block of Lake Street Coroner’s Case
A subject who was under hospice care died of apparent natural causes. Report #13-1222-0001
12/23 400 block of Marina Blvd Grand Theft
Unknown suspect(s) stole an outboard motor valued at $2000.00. There is no suspect information at this time. Report #13-1223-0002
12/23 300 block of valley Dr. Possession of Paraphernalia
Subsequent to a consensual encounter a subject was determined to be on probation for narcotics. A probation search revealed that the subject was in possession of Marijuana and a pipe. The subject was arrested and booked into the San Mateo County Jail. Report #13-1223-0002
12/24 500 block of San Bruno Ave. Vandalism/Graffiti
Unknown suspect(s) graffitied inside the bathrooms causing approx. $400.00 in damages. Report #13-1224-0001
12/24 4000 block of Bayshore Blvd. Vehicle Public Hazard/Tow
An RV that was on fire was eventually towed for being a hazard in the road way. Attempts to contact the registered owner met with negative results. Report #13-1224-0002
12/26 300 block of Klamath Street Court Order Violation
A subject was found to be not in compliance with a court issued child exchange of custody order. This case was submitted to the District Office for review. Report #13-1226-0002
CODE ENFORCEMENT
12/05 Unit block of Plumas Expired Registration Tow
An officer towed a 1989 red Isuzu trooper for having expired registration over 6 months. Report #13-1205-0002.
COMMUNITY ORIENTED POLICING AND PROBLEM SOLVING
Activities:
On 12-04-13 CSO Morgan Roller attended the Senior Luncheon and read to the children at the library.
On 12-11-13 CSO Morgan Roller and Officer Jake Nelson, attended the Senior Luncheon.
C.O.P.P.S. UPDATE
POP 13-02 ; This POP was created to address a recent concern over dogs in regards to leash law violation, dogs getting out of secured areas and pet clean up in public areas. This POP will start with a brief educational period to reacclimatize dog owners to be diligent with the responsibilities of dog ownership.
TRAINING
On 12/10/2013, Sergeant Mario Garcia attended his three year Glock Armorer re-certification course.
On 12/12/2013, Officer Jake Nelson attended his three year Glock Armorer re-certification course.
On 12/12/2013, Sergeant Mario Garcia, Officer Dominic Javellana, Officer Lester Vega, Officer Clara Leong and Officer Abraham Sevilla attended quarterly training.
On 12/19/2013, Swat operator Jake Nelson and operator Dominic Javellana attended monthly SWAT training.
