“Think Like a Molecule” Poster Session 2016

This poster session is organized by the American Chemical Society, Indiana Section and the School of Science at IUPUI; this eventisa great opportunity for academia and industry to share their research with the rest of the scientific community -- and with visiting high school and college students.​
Poster Session Guidelines
All materials must be confined to a 4-foot-high by 6-foot-wide display to fit display board.
Poster numbers supplied by ACS will be in the upper corner of each poster board, and this number corresponds with the number assigned to each poster in the technical program. Pushpins will be available at the poster session.
What happens on this day?
Check in at the registration table by 5:00 pm. Poster set-up is from 5:00pm – 5:45pm. We will have our welcome remarks and keynote address in the Lily Auditorium in the University Library from 6:00-6:30pm. The poster session and a reception will follow. The event is free and open to the public.

Who is invited topresent?
Indiana Colleges, Universities and Industries conducting research related to the theme “Think Like a Molecule” are invited to present at this event. Also, high school students or other undergraduates who have been doing research as part of Project Seed with a faculty member or laboratory are also welcome to participate.

  1. Submit an abstract on the EasyChair website by February 12 11:59 PM.
  2. Bring your poster to the event and present it onFebruary 25.

After showing your abstract to your faculty advisor or industry mentor, submit it on theEasyChair websiteby February 12 at 11:59PM.

Present your Poster on Feb. 25
Create a poster about your research to bring to the event on February 25, 2016. The posters will be attached with pins to a display board.
What Will Happen on February 25?
Please arrive by 5:00pm on February 25th, and bring your poster. Pins will be provided and posters need to be in place by 5:45pm. You will be available to answer questions while standing near your poster from 6:45-8pm.
ThreePoster Session Participants will Receive Awards
From 6:45pm to 8pm, Poster Session judges will be taking notes for three awards: The awards will be announced at the reception from 8:15-9 pm. All participants are eligible for the first two awards; the third award is reserved for a student (HS or undergraduate).

Kurek Student Poster Award
Prize for each winner includes a plaque with the name of the award and a $100 cash prize. Judges will collaborate after scoring to make sure that three different posters are selected.
Photographer at the Event
We will be taking pictures during the event. If you don't want to be photographed, then please watch out for the photographers that day and tell them not to take your picture.
Keynote Speaker
The keynote speaker is Dr. Frederique Deiss from the IUPUI Department of Chemistry & Chemical Biology. This event will take place between 6-6:30 pm. As a courtesy to our speaker, please arrive at least 5 minutes early.
