SCC Business:

Melanie Fairman motioned to approve March 2014 minutes and Kodi Gilgen seconded the motion. Unanimously approved by SCC members.

Counselor’s Report given by Jenna Leishman. They are busy working with students and parents on arena scheduling. There was lots of discussion on this topic. Some parents voiced concerns about the following: students only given partial schedules, counseling center phones were not answered during periods open for help, length of time it takes to get schedule done. Justin Pitcher said to email him with problems or concerns. Since arena scheduling is new this year some adjustments will need to be made. April 1st was deadline for honors diploma applications and AP testing is approaching in May. College night for juniors was well attended.

Faculty Report given by Jodi Ide. She received feedback from some of the faculty regarding the arena scheduling. They would like to receive some training so they can better help the students that have questions.

Principal’s Report given by Justin Pitcher. They've held their first construction meeting on the new soccer field. It will be fantastic. They've posted 4 teaching positions for next year: (2) English, (1) Social Studies and (1) Math

CSIP/Trust Lands/Professional Development:

Amber reviewed a couple of the changes to the SCC’s from the 2014 Utah legislative session. Please see website www.schoollandtrust.org for specifics.

School Climate:

PTSA Input - They have received some emails from parents regarding sophomore parking passes wondering how and when they were given out. Also, they are still in need of additional gift cards for teacher appreciation week. They need to be $10 or less in order for them to be given to the teachers.

Communication:

Feeder School Luncheon will be held on Wednesday, April 30.

Other:

Cell towers discussed. Cell towers are everywhere. The only way to get away from them is to move out of cities where there are people. Cell tower money benefits our students in many ways. There were no concerns by any SCC members about the cell towers we have at Brighton.

Amber asked if anyone is interested in being the SCC chair for next year so she could get someone trained.
