Atlantis

While on vacation in the Bahamas with my family, I had the opportunity to stay at the Atlantis. My experience at this resort was amazing. I had never been so well accommodated on vacation or treated so warmly by a hotel staff.

First, I will tell you a little about the Atlantis. The Atlantis has many different towers. These towers include the BeachTower, the CoralTower, the RoyalTower, the Imperial Club, and Harborside. We were located in the RoyalTowers. The room that I stayed in had two queen beds, a desk area, and a large flat screen TV. It also had a patio area instead of a balcony because we were located on the first floor. The decorations of the room were very Caribbean or had an Island feel to them. The Atlantis also has many accommodations throughout the property that can appeal to anyone that is staying at this beautiful resort. Some of these accommodations include a movie theatre that shows the latest Hollywood releases, a daycare center which allows adults to leave their children to have time for themselves, and a casino. From previous experience in the gaming industry, the casino in the Atlantis did not seem to follow the trends of casinos in Las Vegas. While walking through the casino, I noticed that they do not try to freeze their guests into staying in the casino and gambling. They also did not have apparent cocktail servers. The further time I spent thinking about these differences, I realized that the Atlantis does not fully rely on the casino to bring in their revenue. They also had many accommodations that were outside, pool or beach amenities. Some of these included many slides, pools, and the beach. At the beach, you had the opportunity to rent paddleboats or kayaks. The Atlantis also has 17 different dining locations. They also offer the option of having a meal plan. There are two different plans that you have the option of choosing from. The first option is the Gourmet Dining Plan. It is $92.00 a day and allows you to eat freely at many of the restaurants. The other option is the Modified American Plan. This plan is $59.00 a day and has restrictions on the locations where the plan can be used.

Secondly, I will give you some more in depth information that I received from interviewing a front desk manager, Jamare. First, I asked some operational questions. The average length of stay at the Atlantis is around 4 nights. The check in time is at 3:00 p.m. and the check out is at 11:00 a.m. The average room rate depends on the season as well as the tower you are located in. For the Royal tower, which is where I stayed, can range from $320-555 a night. The attached sheet goes into more detail about specific rooms and times. The Atlantis currently has 2,300 rooms but another 1000 or so is soon to be added because of the new tower that is currently being built. The occupancy rate is normally in the mid 90. It drops in the month of September. They were first established in 1995 and the Royal tower was added in 1998. They have 6,000 employees with 750 being managers, directors, executives, and assistant managers. If you are looking into working at the Atlantis, they have a very detailed hiring and training process. The first step into the hiring process is applying online. Once you have done that it is looked over and you are considered for the job in which you applied. If they feel you are qualified for the position, they will allow you to complete Talent Plus which is like personality test. If you complete this and they like the results you are brought in for a second interview. To confirm that you are hired, they will conduct a third a final interview. Your orientation will last either 6 weeks or up to 3 months. You go through 2 weeks of orientation and property tours and the final time is spent within the department you will be working with. I also asked about a new club they were opening in the near future. It is from the creators of Pure and Tangerine, which are clubs currently in Las Vegas. Unfortunately, He was not allowed to give any information regarding this project.
