BrewGov poll:

BREWDOG TO TACKLE POLLING INACCURACY AND VOTER APATHY WITH FREE CRAFT BEER

Scottish craft brewerto run the first ever poll of the British electorate‘under the influence’ of free beer. The brewer will also invite anyone who votes on 8th of June to claim a free pint of Punk IPA after voting.

Independent craft brewer, BrewDoghas today announced an alternative election pollthat aims to enhance the accuracy of results by offering participants free beer. The brewer, which has 29 craft beer bars across the UK, is also urging every voice to be heard on 8th of June byoffering free beer to all voters who turn up to the polls.

The BrewGov poll

Following a series of recent political shocks in which established and recognised opinion polls failed to accurately predict the outcome, BrewDog hopes to garner a more open response from those taking part by putting a can of Punk IPA in their hand.

James Watt, co-founder of BrewDog commented:

“The political scene could do with more candour and honesty and recent political polls have been spectacularly off target, so we’re running the first ever poll with added craft beer. We believe everyone is more truthful and candid with a beer in their hand and we’re confident the results taken from outside our bars across the country will provide a more accurate picture of voting intention than any of the usual boring polls.”

Yes we ‘can’

Armed with cans of Punk IPA to hand to participants before they respond, the ‘BrewGov’ poll will be conducted by a dedicated team from BrewDog’s bar staff, who will take to the streets outside its bars throughout the UK. The data will be collated on 7th of June and the brewer intends to ‘call’ the results of the election before the polling stations open on 8th of June. The brewery will thenturn its attention to rewarding thirsty voters with a pint of Punk IPA on Election Day itself.

#VoteForPunk

The free beer for voters is a move to further encourage voter turnout on Election Day. To claim a free Punk IPA, voters can take a picture of themselves outside their polling stations and show it to bar staff at any BrewDog bar. The offer extends to Friday 9th June, when the electorate can either celebrate or commiserate the results with the free beer offer.

James Watt added:

“Whatever your views, whatever your status, every vote was created equal. An election is a key moment for those that feel marginalized or under represented to stand up and be counted; so we want to encourage and reward those making their voices heard on 8th of June.”

About BrewDog plc

Since 2007, BrewDog has been on a mission to make other people as passionate about great craft beer as they are. From the Headliner series, which includes bold, uncompromising pack leaders like the flagship Punk IPA, to the Amplified range (beer, but turned up to 11), BrewDog creates beer that blows people’s minds and has kick-started a revolution.

Cofounders James Watt and Martin Dickie shook up the business world in 2009 with the launch of pioneering crowdfunding initiative Equity for Punks, an initiative that has seen the company raise £40m since 2009, taking more money through crowdfunding than any other on record. The funds, and the army of punk shareholders (55,000) enabled the Scottish craft brewery to scale up without selling out.

With almost 50 global bar launches, export into 60 countries, and a brand new brewery in Ohio opening in 2017, BrewDog continues to take the craft beer revolution stratospheric, whilst continuing to push the boundaries, invest in people, put the beer first, and champion other small breweries in its venues.
