The Brentwood Union Free School District, New York’s largest suburban school district, announces the following vacancy for an articulate, analytical, dedicated, progressive, and creative educational leader:

Elementary Assistant Principal

(10.25 month work year)

(In-District Employees Only)

Job Summary:

Work with the school’s principal, teachers and parents to maintain a positive learning environment which fosters high expectations for all students and staff. Assist with the implementation of the school’s instructional program, supervision and evaluation of staff, building operations and student management.

Reports to: Elementary School Principal

Minimum Requirements:

Must hold appropriate NYS Administrative Certification.

Minimum of 5 years total of successful public school teaching experience.

Additional requirements include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist the building principal in providing educational leadership through

supervision of the educational programand the promotion of curriculum

development, in-service work and appropriate use of curriculum specialists.

  • Help foster growth and development of staff through the use of evaluation and

through effective implementation of an in-service building and district program.

  • Assist in the systematic collection, analysis, and utilization of data at both the

school and district levels.

  • Develop systems and supports to strengthen the home-school connection and

promote family involvement in student learning.

  • Instruct teachers in the use of the new New York State Next Generation

Standards for curricular lesson/unit frameworks.

  • Help promote the total development of each child within his/her building.

Assist principal in welding all phases of the school operation into a smoothly

running unit with a common goal; the betterment of the pupil and community.

  • Help encourage good public relations through daily contacts withschool employees,pupils, parents and other members of the community.
