Ride in XC colours, with a round of show jumping continuing directly to the Cross Country, aiming to get as close as possible to the optimum time.

Show jumping will run on the Arena. Riders will proceed from there to the separate XC start.

Horses/ponies may only compete if they become 5 years old or more during 2016.

Class 1: 80cm.

Section A: BRC Junior Team and Individual, Section B:BRC Senior Team and Individual Section C: Unaffiliated individual

SJ height 80cm, speed 325 mpm. XC height 80cm, speed 435mpm (optimum time, no window)

Horse/pony may not have any BE points. (Foundation points do not apply) May not have been in top 6 at BE 90 or completed a BE/BRC 100 in current or previous competition year.

Class 2: 90cm.

Section A: BRC Junior Team and Individual, Section B: BRC Senior Team and Individual Section C: Unaffiliated individual

SJ height 90cm, speed 325 mpm. XC height 90cm, speed 450mpm (optimum time, no window)

Horse/pony may have up to 1 BE point. (Foundation points do not apply) May not have competed in BRC Challenge or HT 100 in this competition year, or been placed 1st-6th in BE100.

Class 3: 100cm.

Section A: BRC Junior Team and Individual, Section B: BRC Senior Team and Individual Section C: Unaffiliated individual

SJ height 1m, speed 325 mpm. XC height 1m, speed 475mpm (optimum time, no window)

Horse/pony may have up to 20 BE points. (Foundation points do not apply)

(Single cheques per club please, not individual competitors, payable to Area 9 British Riding Clubs, or BACS Santander 09 01 28 08729283) Teams £120, Individuals £30. Start Fee on the day for Paramedic costs £3 per rider.

Clubs will be required to provide 2 helpers per team/3 competitors in order to compete. Helpers will need to arrive by 8.15 am for fence judge briefing, and will be needed for the whole day. Clubs must provide a main contact name/mobile number. Any swaps through the competition are the responsibility of the club, not the organiser.

Getting to Mendip Plains

There are directions on the Mendip Plains website. The centre is easily accessible from the A39 Wells Road. Do not attempt to go via Stoneaston on A37 – this involves a long stretch of single track lane, which your Satnav may well choose!

Rules
•  The competition will be run strictly under British Riding Club rules 2016.
•  ALL HORSES/PONIES ENTERED FOR BRC QUALIFIERS MUST HAVE A VACCINATION RECORD COMPLYING WITH BRC RULES, WHICH MUST BE BROUGHT ON THE DAY OF THE COMPETITION. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CHEF D’EQUIPE TO ENSURE THESE ARE CORRECT. ANY INCORRECT CERTIFICATES WILL RESULT IN THAT TEAM MEMBER’S DISQUALIFICATION.
•  Chefs d’equipe should check the full BRC eligibility criteria for all horses and riders in the qualifying classes.
•  Declarations for BRC qualifiers should be presented to the Secretary prior to the start of the Class. Alternatively they may be emailed to up to 8pm on the previous evening. Only simple changes to teams will be permitted after times have been posted (ie horse/rider replacing existing position in a team),
•  Entries will not be accepted without the correct entry fees and volunteer information. Cheques should be made payable to Area 9 British Riding Clubs. Teams should send a single Riding Club cheque to accompany the Area Entry Form.
•  Preliminary Entries represent a commitment by the club to enter the Area qualifier, and to pay the Area entry fee.
•  Hats up to current standards with 3 point restraining harness MUST be worn and fastened at all times when mounted. Hats with a peak of any kind may not be worn.
•  All hats must have a BRC orange tag PRIOR TO RIDING in BRC qualifiers.
•  The whole competition is ridden in XC dress. Body protectors (Purple BETA Level 3 2000/2009, and correctly completed medical armbands must be worn.
•  BRC health and safety guidelines apply at all times
•  Neither BRC Area 9, Bath riding Club or Mendip Plains Equestrian will hold themselves responsible for any accident to persons, property and/or horses attending this show
•  The judges decision is FINAL
•  ONLY persons and/or horses competing may use the warm up facilities at Mendip Plains
•  Competitors are requested not to leave litter or muck out horse boxes in the box park
•  Horses must not be tied to horseboxes or trailers and left unattended
•  All ridden horses/ponies must be 5 yrs or over during 2016
•  Objections to be made to the Secretary in writing within 10 minutes of the end of the class and accompanied by a £10 deposit
•  All persons attending the show will be deemed to have accepted the rules and conditions.
