This agreement, made in pursuance of the Industrial Arbitration Act, 1912, this 21st day of March, 1977, between the Braille Society for the Blind of Western Australia (Incorporated) of the one part, and the Hospital Salaried Officers Association of Western Australia (Union of Workers), of the other part, whereby the parties mutually covenant and agree as follows:-
1.-TITLE
This agreement shall be known as the "Braille Society (Salaried Officers) Agreement, 1977.

3.-AREAANDSCOPE
This agreement shall apply to all salaried officers employed by the Braille Society for the Blind of Western Australia (Incorporated) and to the employer employing these workers.
4.-TERM
The term of this agreement shall be for a period of three years from the date hereof.
5.-DEFINITIONS
(1)"The Association" means the Hospital Salaried Officers Association of Western Australia (Union of Workers).
(2)"The Employer" means the Braille Society for the Blind of Western Australia (Incorporated).
(3)"Salaried Officer" means a worker who is engaged in a professional, administrative, supervisory, technical or clerical capacity.
6.-SPECIALCONDITIONSOFEMPLOYMENT
(1)The following clauses of the Hospital Salaried Officers Award No. 39 of 1968, amended and consolidated, and further amended, shall be incorporated, mutatis mutandis, in and shall be deemed to be part of this agreement:-

Clause 21 - Travelling
Clause 23 - Travelling Time
Clause 24A - Travelling, Transfers and
Relieving - Rates of Allowance
Clause 26 - Dirty Work
Clause 27 - Allowance for Receiving and
Paying Cash
(2)Any amendment made to those clauses of Award No. 39 of 1968 specified in subclause (1) on or subsequent to the date of the agreement, shall apply automatically to salaried officers employed by the employer.
(3)The terms of any amendment referred to in subclause (2) hereof shall operate from the date upon which workers covered by Award No. 39 of 1968, receive the benefit from, or are subject to liability under, any such amendment.
7.-SALARIESANDVARIATIONSINSALARIES
(1)Schedule A, Schedule B and Schedule C to the Hospital Salaried Officers Award No. 39 of 1968, amended and consolidated, and further amended shall be incorporated in and shall be deemed to be part of this agreement.
(2)Any variation to the salaries payable under Award No. 39 of 1968, occurring on or after the date of the agreement, shall apply automatically to salaried officers employed by the employer.
(3)Any variation referred to in subclause (2) hereof shall apply on and from the date upon which workers covered by the award receive the benefit from, or are subject to liability under, any such variation.
8.-CLASSIFICATION
(1)The employer shall allocate a classification to each salaried officer by comparing that officer's qualification, experience, duties, level of responsibility and the number of staff for whom he is responsible with similar positions in public hospitals and/or nursing homes.
(2)When a salaried officer is engaged by the employer on or after the date hereof or where the classification of a salaried officer is altered on or after the date hereof, the employer shall notify the Association in writing of the name, title, classification and job description of that salaried officer within seven days of commencement of services of the officer or the date the classification is altered, as the case may be.
(3)If the Association disagrees with the classification allocated to any officer, the Association shall enter into negotiations with the employer with a view to settling the disagreement.
(4)If the parties cannot reach agreement as to the classification of any officer, the matter may be referred to the Industrial Commission for determination.
9.-MINIMUMSALARIESANDCONDITIONS
Notwithstanding anything contained hereinbefore, the minimum salaries and minimum general conditions of employment applicable to salaried officers employed by the employer shall be as prescribed from time to time in the Hospital Salaried Officers (Nursing Homes) Award No. 18 and 19 of 1974.
