Minutes for Monday, November 14, 2011

Attendance: Kendall Carrier, Ricardo Robinson, Kim Schoeffel, Kim Sondey, Bill Sondey, Patricia Coutu, Debbie Brown, Chuck Metras, Ange Harber, Sandra Jordan, Bill Jordan, Sarah Labrecque, Kathy Boudreaux, Katy Boudreaux, Rhonda Lipp, Cyndee Vanderford, Chris Cahill, Scott Bosch, Jeanne Gartenberg, Donna Love, Teresa Lindsay, and Nick Marazita

Welcome and Introductions:

Approval of Minutes: Corrections were made accordingly to the amount in the budget as stated in the October 10th minutes.Minutes were reviewed and approved by Donna Love and Bill Jordan.

Treasurer's Report:

The concession has made 40% profit-have spent $13,000, not including the coffeepots. Band dues owed are $27,000. $5,000 more has been received in band fees. Parents will be notified of any outstanding band fees. We are in the process of transferring our banking accounts from Wells Fargo to Synovus.

Old Business:

  • We will have one more Little Caesar's pizza fundraiser in February-have made $2,700.
  • Our Carrabba's fundraiser will be held on Saturday, December 3rd. Please contact Jeanne Gartenberg if you would like to assist.
  • Chick-Fila Fundraiser- Cyndee Vanderford will be selling Chick-Fila calendars in the bandroom and in front of the school. Calendars are $8.00-$4 $2 for the bands and $2 toward band fees. The coupons in the calendar can be used for any item comparable in price and do not have any expiration date.
  • Escrip: On-line shopping. Sign up at escrip.com and support the BRHS bands. If you have any questions, contact Donna Love.
  • Subway (near Ellenton Mall and in Wal-Mart in N. Palmetto) . $25 coupon booklets. The booklets can be used at the Ellenton Subway or the Subway inside of Wal-Martin N. Ellenton. It's a great opportunity for band members to pay off their band fees. Students will receive $10 toward their band fees with each booklet that is sold. Will do this fundraiser in January/February? We will contact Kerri Andino after winter break.

Props:

  • Props are almost ready. Need to cut u-holes so the wind will blow through them. Will practice with props on Tuesday and Thursday before Semi-finals.

Uniforms:

  • Donna Love talked to the uniform company. Our new uniforms will not be ready by the Semi-finals.

Instrument Storage:

  • Need to work on rolling storage for the band instruments this winter. Will be ready for the next marching band season.

Concert Attire:

  • Donna Love is looked into pricing concert attire for the Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, and the Jazz bands. They can deliver outfits in 2-3 weeks. Girls will need knit dresses-approx. $55 and boys' outfits would include shirt, pants, cummerbund, and tie. Recommendations included establishing an account on line enabling parents to order online. Would like to have the concert attire before our next MPA competition . Kathy Boudreaux, Cyndee Vanderford, Jeanne Gartenberg, and Donna Love will work on the uniform committee.

11/19 Semi-finals at BRHS:

  • We will perform at 11:44AM. If we are chosen to go on to Finals at the Tropicana Dome, we will leave by 1:30 PM to get to the Dome by 3 PM. The first performance will be at 4:15 PM. We will need to take three and 2 trailers for the instruments and props.
  • FMBC shirts have been ordered.
  • Group photos will be taken during the semi-final event
  • Volunteers-We will be needing many parent and student volunteers to help with this event. Please signup as soon as possible. We need all hands on deck. Teresa Lindsay is coordinating this FMBC event.
  • Concession- Will need plenty of help in the concession.
  • Golf Cart-Check golf cart to see if it is fully charged. We may need new battery ($50).
  • Friday Night, Nov. 18th - Table setup, trailer run-through. Trailers here by 5 PM. Volunteers needed 2:45 PM - Dark
  • Saturday- First band 7:30 Warm-up/8:28 AM Performance, park trailers out front, Pit-ready to help at 10:50 AM, Ange and Rhonda need help with the concession closure
  • Sunday- Cleanup from 12 PM until ? We will need volunteers:)

New Business:

By- Laws:

  • Need help with by-law revisions. Mr. Stone, Donna Love, and Jeanne Gartenberg will work on this committee.

Band Director Update:

  • We are Grand Champs for the third time!!! We have had an incredible marching band season! Armbands will be given to anyone who has helped with the FMBC event. Armbands can also be purchased on-site. Check/cash payments will be accepted.
  • We will know whether we are heading to the Dome by 1:18 PM.

Wrap up and Adjourn:

Motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Bill Jordan and Debbie Brown. The meeting was adjourned at 8:22 PM. The next meeting will be held on Monday, December 12, 2011at 7 PM in the band room.
