BOZIDAR CEROVIC, FULL PROFESSOR

Born in Belgrade (1947). Graduated (1970) and obtained MSc (1976) and PhD degree(1979) from the Faculty of Economics Belgrade. First employed with the Institute for Economics of Investment, Belgrade (1970, research assistant) and since 1971 with the Faculty of Economics. He was elected Full Professor in 1993. He was teaching Political Economy, Microeconomic Analysis, and Theory of Production and currently teaches Principles of Economics and Economics of Transition. He teaches also at the graduate studies including International Master in Economics and Management (joint programme with HEC, Paris, until 2010) and International Master in Macroeconomics (joint programme with Université Sophia Antipolis, Nice, France).

Current research interests: Economics of Transition (privatisation, restructuring and competitiveness, transition and growth), Comparative Economics.

Visiting scholar/specialisation: CambridgeUniversity (1980), London School of Economics (1980, 1989), University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign (1990).

He was the Dean of the Faculty of Economics (2002-2004) and a member of theUniversity Council (2002-2006). He was also the Head of the PhD Studies Committee at the Faculty of Economics and the chair of the Council for Social Sciences and Humanities at BelgradeUniversity and a member of the University Senate (2009-12). Currently is a head of the Centre for International Scientific Co-operation of the Faculty.

He is full member of Scientific Society of Economists of Serbia, its President since 2006 and a member of the SerbianAcademy of Economic Science. He is a member of the EACES (European Association for Comparative Economic Studies) and an Executive Committee member (2004-2010), Head of the SEE Regional Centre and the Steering Committee member of the CEEUN (Central and East European University Network) and the General Secretary of the ASECU (Association of Southeast European Economic Universities).

Prof Cerovic is author and/or editor of 18 books and monographs, more than 100 studies and articles published in the country and abroad, member of the scientific committees of around 20 international conferences. Head and/or team member in many research projects (local and international) including projects financed by European Commission (Interreg, Tempus), European Agency for Reconstruction (PLAC – Policy and Legal Advise Centre), Serbian Ministry of Science etc. Currently the head of the project The role of the State in the New Growth Model in Serbia, financed by the Republican Government – Ministry of Science.

He is editor in chief of the leading Serbian international journal Ekonomski anali - Economic Annals and is a member of the editorial boards of the journals Croatian Economic Survey, Ekonomska misao and Ekonomske ideje i praksa; he is also a scientific committee member of the journal Transition Studies Review (Springer). Recently he became editorial board member of a forthcoming Journal of Contemporary Economic and Business Issues established by the Faculty of Economics, Skopje, FYR Macedonia.

Prof Cerovic is Chevalier de l’Ordre des Palmes Académiques (French decoration).

Speaks English and French and can communicate in Russian and some Spanish.
