BOYS/MIXED & GIRLS FOOTBALL Knockout CUP 2017/18

RULES AND REGULATIONS

Dimensions of the football pitch:

Please see FA 7 aside pitch and goal dimensions.

The Ball:

The ball should be no larger than size 4. It should be safe and made of leather or another suitable material.

Number of Players:

In the 7 aside league competition, players can be boys or girls (in the Girls Football Competition players are only girls) and MUST be from Years 5 or 6 at primary school (ONLY).

There should be 7 players on the pitch at all times. With a maximum squad of 12. Substitutes may be used at any time with the permission of the referee. Entry onto the field of play will only be allowed during a stoppage in play. A player who has been replaced may return to the playing area as a substitute for another player. Therefore the roll on, roll off rule will be used.

Playing Equipment:

Players must wear shin pads (covered entirely by the stockings).

Goalkeepers should wear a distinguishing playing strip as well as fixed protection goalie gloves.

Appropriate footwear for football must be worn (NO METAL STUDS). Players will be playing on grass so, NO slippery footwear.

Where there is a clash of kits, the home team are to change strip as appropriate or to put bibs on.

Referees:

Each match is controlled by a referee who has full authority to enforce the Laws of the Game. The home team will organise the referee for that game, please respect all referees at all times.

Duration of Game:

Games will be 40 minutes, 20 minute each way, with a 3-5 minute half time. If the score is equal, extra time will be added of just 10 minutes one way. If the score is still tied, Penalty shootout will be used. 3 players from each team will be picked; the team to score the most are the winners of that game.

Start of Play:

A kick off is taken at the centre of the playing area to start the game and after a goal has been scored.

Offside:

There are no offside rules for 7 a side games.

Free Kicks:

All free kicks are direct and the opposition must be at least 5 yards (4.5m) away from the ball.

The “Back-pass rule”:

The Back-pass rule applies. Therefore, if a goalkeeper touches the ball with his/her hands after it has been deliberately kicked / received from a throw in to him/her by a team mate, a free kick will be awarded from the penalty area line parallel to the goal line at the nearest point to the offence being committed.

Penalty:

Penalty kicks are taken from a mark (8 yards) opposite the centre of the goal. All players except the defending goalkeeper and kicker must be outside the penalty area and at least five yards from the penalty mark. The ball must be kicked forward, towards the goal.

Throw In:

Normal rules apply, as per Laws of Association Football.

The role of the referee is to also allow young players to learn the game. This may involve letting players take throw-ins again, if incorrect technique is used. The referee should ensure the same player attempts a second time, with guidance and help from the match official.

Distribution from the Goalkeeper:

When in open play, Goalkeepers must distribute the ball from their hands, or by placing the ball on the floor to kick out. ‘Drop-Kicks’ are allowed, if schools agree on the day. Again, the role of the referee is to also allow young players to learn the game. If the incorrect technique is used, the ball is to be returned to the goalkeeper to attempt releasing the ball a second time, with guidance and help from the match official.

Goal Kick:

Goal kicks are taken from any point within the penalty area. The opposition must retreat to the half way line. The Ball needs to be still, and needs to come outside the penalty area.

Corner Kicks:

The opposition must be 5 yards (4.5m) away.

Results:

All outcomes of games for cup purposes, the winner of that game will progress to the next stage. Therefore this is a knockout cup scenario competition. All Team Managers and Staff are responsible for their team and to ensure sportsmanship and fair play throughout each match, For example, if a team is clearly dominating a match, this may include the team fielding players in unfamiliar positions, or even reducing the playing numbers of the team to ensure a fair playing field.

Postponing a game

If there is bad weather both teams must communicate to get another date for the match to be played, so the next stages of the Knockout Cup can continue. The first and second round of the Knockout Cup has to be played before Christmas break. (Monday 11th December 2017).

Progression to the next stages.

The winner of each pool will progress to the quarter finals (girls the winner of each pool and the best two runners up of the 6 pools); you will have to play your own quarter finals, so please arrange this yourself. The Deadline is Friday 9th February 2018.

The winners of the quarter final games will progress to the semi-finals, again please arrange your own semi-finals to be played. The Deadline is Friday 2nd March 2018.

The finals will be played at Wykeham Primary school, afterschool 4pm.The CUP finals for Girls and Boys will be 15th March.

For the quarter finals, semi- final, the same rules apply. All players and staff and parents for all final games will respect the code of conduct and respect Wykeham, The Havering Sports Collective and the School that is holding the Quarter Finals and Semi- Finals.

ALL FINAL GAMES WILL BE 40 MINUTES LONG, 20 MINUTE EACH WAY, WITH 3-5 MINUTES HALF TIME. Please use the FA 7 aside pitch and goal markings and size for your games.

Please note:

·  Havering School Sports Collective have the right to make changes to the competition structure, if it is deemed necessary.

·  Any disputes over the playing/arranging of matches should be referred to the Havering School Sports Collective, whose decision shall be final.

·  Schools must keep an eye on the Havering Sports Collective Website http://www.haveringsportscollective.org/ , under Primary- Football cup draws and results.

·  An email may be sent out to keep you updated of progressions of teams to the next rounds. Please email your results after you have played the games.
